Anyone have experience with the Le Gourmet Chef brand?

Hi all! I know that we mostly worship the Holy Duality of All Clad/Le Creuset around here :-), but I was curious to see if anybody else has any Le Gourmet Chef in their collection. As I wrote on the "Best. Gift. Ever." thread:

"My partner, who doesn't know Le Creuset from demi-glace, surprised me with a new stock pot for my birthday a few weeks ago. What makes it such a wonderful gift is that he knows absolutely nothing about food, and was terrified and intimidated about making the purchase. But he'd heard me whining about needing a new stock pot and not being able to afford one, and so, determined to procure a special gift for my birthday, he girded his loins and took the plunge. He ended up giving me a Le Gourmet Chef from the outlet at the Mall of America. He didn't know it when he gave it to me, but it's evidently a tri-ply All-Clad knock-off that is, as far as I can tell, just as good for a third of the price. It's been performing beautifully, and I'm in love. And my man, who was all white-knuckle terror that he might have messed up when he gave me the gift (even though I would, of course, have said that I loved whatever he got me), is thrilled."

Since it's always nice for the impoverished amongst us to have affordable options for effective cookware, I wanted to see what the rest of y'all's experience with this admittedly less-than-trust-inducingly-named line has been. Comments?

Where to Get Reasonably Priced All-Clad Cookware?

If you're prepared to make a pilgrimage to get some low-priced All-Clad cookware, get ready for a roadtrip to western Pennsylvania.

The All-Clad manufacturing folks in Canonsburg, PA, put on a fantastic "seconds sale" twice a year, usually in December and June, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in nearby Washington, PA.

Here's the address:

2151 North Main Street
Washington PA USA 15301
(724) 225-3151

This sale does NOT get advertised on the All-Clad website, so the exact dates for June & December 2008 are unknown (at least to me). The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has announced the dates in the past. I plan to call the Wash. Co. Fairgrounds closer to June to find out more. You may wish to call them and/or check the Post-Gazette, too.

I'm letting the cat outta' the bag on this one because the information was much appreciated by others in another Talk topic thread . . . and because its just the nice thing to do.

I need advice re: a cast iron enamel dutch oven...

I bought a Food Network cast iron enamel dutch oven. Not being able to afford a Le Creuset, and never having had any experience with one, I thought $100 was a good bargain for the FN pan. Well, after two days (with careful use), the cover was chipped around the edge. I exchanged it for a different one at the store where I bought it. When I got it home and took it out of the box to look at it, I noticed that the enamel isn't covering some spots on the very inside cover, and the overall paint doesn't look "even". Should I exchange it again? Are there other brands besides Le Creuset that are better quality and not too expensive?

Cookware Advice

I want to get my sister cookware for Christmas, and I am looking for advice on what kind to get. I've been looking at All-Clad sets, but they are a bit more than I want to spend.

My roommate has a Calphalon pan that I love to cook on, but I think it is from the One line which is just as pricey as the All-Clad.

I've heard the Wolfgang Puck sets are decent, but was wondering if anyone has any other recommendations.

Our dad's a chef so we appreciate quality cooking products, and I'd like to get her something that will last a while.

Ronco rotisserie??

Does anyone have a Ronco rotisserie? I am usually very skeptical of infomercial kinds of things but have heard good things about this. Any comments?

The Food Network Cookwear

Has anyone tried "The Food Network Cookwear" put out by Kohl's? I took a quick look at them (Stainless Steel Set) in store and they look "PRETTY GOOD & STRONG" but I'm unable to find any reviews on them. Please anyone if you have tried them let me know if they are worth it. The price is good and the variety of pots is excellent providing they pass the test. HELP!

Food Network Cookware? Hit or Miss?

Food Network Cookware from Kohls

So what do you ya'll think about Food Network getting into the cookware business? Will it be a Hit or will it be a huge Miss? I'm hoping that they make some things that are decent quality and functional (here's hoping AB is behind the R&D for this stuff).

Copper Cookware

I'm in the market for new cookware, and I plan to buy copper (copper bottom, stainless inside). What brands are the best? Where to buy? Any tips for cooking with them? Etc...

Thanks!

Best cookware?

Anyone have an opinion about the best pots and pans? Lots of people tell me to buy All-Clad, but there are several different types. Emerilware is supposed to be made by All-Clad and much cheaper.

Question of the Day: Fancy Pans or Not?

In today's feature, Meg conducts a quick off-the-cuff study, comparing a high-dollar All-Clad fry pan to an inexpensive pan from a kitchen-supply store. What kinds of pan do you use and why?
