Red Hook, Brooklyn Eats

Okay, I'm aware that everyone on here knows their s**t so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm finally making the pilgrimage to Lenell's in Red Hook to pick up some bitters and small batch bourbon. I need a place to have a nice casual lunch sitdown lunch and am open to all food types. Price really isn't an issue but no place mega expensive. I wanted to go to the ball fields but have heard that they're not quite open yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Max

Grimaldi's Pizza Brooklyn Heights

Total tourist trap! The pizza crust was blackened, tasted charred, and was not crisp!? The center of each slice sagged from the moisture but not because there were too many toppings~this pizza had one topping...garlic. A thin crust should be crisp, tasty, and 'crunch' when bitten into. Sadly, Grimaldi's met none of this basis requirements. I've had MUCH better pizza on the Jersey boardwalks. The wait staff should take their expertise to Seinfeld's Soup Kitchen.

Introducing NYC to my boyfriend...

I am headed to NYC next next weekend and have already begun my mental checklist of eats. I am a relatively easy-going vegetarian (I eat fish). Boyfriend, however, is allergic to raw fruits and vegetables, dislikes fish, and is generally a picky eater. (The boy doesn't even like chocolate that much.) If I could take him to a good burrito place, he'd be thrilled. Let me know where I could venture, in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Wedding Day Lunch in Brooklyn?

Having a tiny wedding ceremony at home in Park Slope. What is a great place to have lunch afterwards in Brooklyn? Its only 8 of us?

Best butchers in NYC?

Preferably in Brooklyn or Manhattan, I am looking for a place where I can get a Saddle of Lamb.

Need an Indian restaurant in Brooklyn

My veggie teenage kids and their mob of unruly summer camp friends are going to see Mos' Def at the Brooklyn Academy of Music this Saturday. Does anyone know a solid Indian restaurant near BAM that is not too expensive and would seat 10 ruffians?

Russian/Ukrainian restaurants?

Does anyone know any authentic Russian or Ukrainian restaurants in the city, Brooklyn, or Queens?

I know there's Veselka in the city, but I'm not a fan. There's also plenty of so called "Russian" restaurants in Brooklyn, but they're clearly not authentic. They're dubbed Russian due to the fact that the majority of their patrons are Russian, as well as the owners. I can't seem to find any good spots.

Recommendations for sushi in Brooklyn

Having only recently moved to Brooklyn, I only really know Osaka.

Other recommendations?

I hear good things about Ki Sushi and read wildly mixed reviews about Dish in Bay Ridge? What's up with that? Is Dish good or no?

Any great Chinese, Thai or Indian in Park Slope? HELP!

I only have been disappointed by the chinese place on 7th, near Garfield and 1st Street and with the Thai upstairs from the Corcoran office and with Lemongrass also on 7th. I tried the Thai on 5th Avenue and was it Union Street or 1st Street? I fotgot the name, sorry, and it was very bland and the normally crunchy Thai spring rolls I taste in Chinatown on Center Street or Bayard Street were awfully soggy and without any meat at all and filled with lifeless old tasteless bean sprouts. Disgusting! So? What gives? Desperate, newly moved to Montgomery Place from Avenue A and 9th Street, a foodies paradise...

NoNo on 7th Ave in Park Slope?

It's a newish New Orleans–inspired place in the Slope. Near 7th Street. Just tried it for brunch. Pretty good chicken-fried steak. Has anyone else had experience there?

Fascati Pizza - Henry St., BK Heights.

Fascati Pizza - Henry St., BK Heights. I like this pizza. It's simple. It's NY. It's good, and I like the fact that (I think) it's a family affair - I believe the junior generation of Fascati's run the joint. I admit I have only had regular slices there, so I can't speak for the rest of their offerings, but I'd be interested to know if the famous and favorite contributor SLICE has any commentary. One last thing - I find the exterior of the place so UGLY that I almost didn't try their food, but I'm glad I got over it. As for the Chinese place next door with the same type of signage - never....
