Guinness Beer Options: Looking for Something Similar

What are some good options in a darker beer without getting something that's overly bitter. I enjoy Guinness, but want to look around. There's just no many good options at my local store, so I'm looking for suggestions. Boddingtons has been a good option, but again, selection is very limited. Hope this is the right place to post this.

Beer Bread

I'm trying a new recipe tonight for beer bread. Needless to say, my hubby is super-excited. The recipe calls for one bottle of beer, but is completely unspecific as to what kind.

What beers have you used in the past to make good beer bread? I'm leaning towards Shiner Bock right now, to try and make a more savory, darker bread. Thoughts?

The beercan-in-the-butt chicken done six ways!

Lederhosen - really a bierhaus. I've never been here but heard they have a great selection of german beers. On Grove between Bedford and Bleecker in the West Village
