Arepas in Philly?

I ate my first arepa {mozzarella sandwiched between two warm corn cakes} a couple weekends ago in Soho. Now I'm back in Philly and want another one, or ten! I have no idea where I can find them since this city doesn't seem to be big on hole in the wall-type Mexican/South American restaurants.

Help!

Sunday brunch/lunch places in Philadelpha

in a few weeks my parents are meeting my finacee's parents, and through some bizarre twist, we're meeting in philadelphia - a town neither side lives in.

any suggestions as to a nice place to meet up for brunch or lunch on a sunday?

Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine

I'm heading down to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for my great-aunt's 100th birthday! I haven't been down in about ten years, when my grammy died, and I was thinking it will be nice to get re-acquainted with some of the regional specialties. (But not scrapple, LOL)

First and foremost, I want to pick up a nice big sack of John Cope's toasted dried sweet corn so that I can make stewed corn or just eat it out of the bag.

Since it's not new year's day, I guess I won't be getting any pork and sauerkraut, but definitely lots of pickles and chow-chow are in order. I remember we used to get fasnachts - I think they're like doughnuts, but I'm not sure.

What else can I try (or re-try)?

the best pizza

I am sorry but you evidently have never eaten at a small restaurant in Allentown Pa. called Paeso Mio, they have the absolute best Italian food I have ever eaten. As you wrote about a plain slice of pizza, I could only think of their most delicious sauce, the best cheese and their onforgettable crusts. You truly have to try this one. I am totally organic, rarely enjoy dining out as I am so very lucky to have the best beef and milk raised by a country farmer who absolutely loves his cows who raises their food himself. But Paseo Mio is my choice, no one can come close to their sauce period. I am anxious to hear your verdict.

Cooking classes in Philadelphia

Does anyone know how I would find out if there are any cooking classes in the Philadelphia area?

Where to Get Reasonably Priced All-Clad Cookware?

If you're prepared to make a pilgrimage to get some low-priced All-Clad cookware, get ready for a roadtrip to western Pennsylvania.

The All-Clad manufacturing folks in Canonsburg, PA, put on a fantastic "seconds sale" twice a year, usually in December and June, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in nearby Washington, PA.

Here's the address:

2151 North Main Street
Washington PA USA 15301
(724) 225-3151

This sale does NOT get advertised on the All-Clad website, so the exact dates for June & December 2008 are unknown (at least to me). The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has announced the dates in the past. I plan to call the Wash. Co. Fairgrounds closer to June to find out more. You may wish to call them and/or check the Post-Gazette, too.

I'm letting the cat outta' the bag on this one because the information was much appreciated by others in another Talk topic thread . . . and because its just the nice thing to do.
