Wedding/reception locations in the Boston area

So, I recently became engaged and am starting to begin the long process of wedding planning. People have informed me that the first thing to do is book a location.

The catch: my fiancee and I are both vegetarian and it's quite important to us that the food we serve is meat-free. Also, we want food that is exceptionally yummy! Any ideas for catering? Restaurants? We are not attached to having an evening affair, so brunch/lunch/afternoon tea are options as well.

Since we are also in our early 20s and will be funding the affair ourselves mostly, we need to keep things on the moderately priced side.

Boston Gem: Chocolate-Caramel Sea Salt tart at Canto 6

Having left New York's endless supply of culinary wonders for Boston's predictable generic parade of pubs, coffee shops and "fusion" restaurants, I often forget that there are gems to be found in Beantwon. Canto 6 bakery on Washington Street in Jamaica Plain has given me real hope. They have fabulous baguettes, sinfully sugary scones with creative combinations, and great fresh sandwiches. I bought a chocolate pecan pie here for Thanksgiving that was a huge hit. And so I'm a big booster of this place.

And then I tried their new chocolate caramel sea-salt tart. Run... don't walk to try it... this thing is amazing. A rich layer dense dark chocolate covers an unbelievably unctuous cavity-inducing caramel filling. The whole thing is topped with just a sprinkle of sea salt, which does able battle with the sweetness of the caramel. The crust is appropriately flaky and understated.

Canto 6 is on the corner of Washington and Green Street (a few blocks from the Green Street stop on the Orange Line).

Japanese restaurant that serves katsudon in Boston?

Where can I find a Japanese restaurant that serves katsudon in Boston? There seems to be no shortage of sushi places, but Google has failed me when it comes to fried pork cutlet over rice.

Driving from Boston to Burlington, Vermont, this weekend...

Restaurants in Charlestown/Newport, RI & Boston

It's our honeymoon. Nothing expensive, just good food. We'll be in Boston during Restaurant Week so we have a list of restaurants, but have no idea if they’re any good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Where have you enjoyed the most lavish brunch buffet?

Over the weekend, I enjoyed a phenomenal brunch at the Four Seasons in Boston. Unlimited Oysters, clams, LOBSTER (tail & claws), dim sum, peking duck, ham, roast beef, cheeses, breakfast foods...well, you get the picture. I could not believe the unlimited lobster.

But what impressed me most was the service. Our waiter told us that if there was something special that we'd like to eat the next time we had brunch (e.g., lamb), let them know the day before and they would make sure to have it for us! Now that is truly unbelievable service.

Delivery in Boston?

I recently moved from NYC to Boston and am having a hard time finding restaurants that deliver. Any suggestions?

To Picco or not Picco

Ed-

After reading your pizza list in Details, I was intrigued about Picco in Boston. The reviews I've read and heard vary wildly, so I'm having a difficult time deciding if it's worth visiting. From their website, it sounds like they're attempting to do the right things in terms of ingredients and dedication to the craft, but does the pizza stack up? Let's put it this way, if I have one night out for pizza this week, do I go to the original Regina's in the North End or give this newcomer (disregarding the ice cream for now) a shot?

The Southfield Store-Cafe & Fine Foods, Mass.

If you're going up to the Berkshires this summer (near Great Barrington Mass) you really have to go by the Southfield Store Cafe.

Tim Newman is the music video and commercial director who did what every over-stressed city person threatens; driving through the Berkshires to visit his daughter, he stopped in Southfield, Massachusetts and indulged one of his great life passions.

He bought the 100 year old Southfield Store, renovated and added a cafe. This Los Angeles/New York native moved in and runs an amazing family business.

He learned to be a wonderful cook from his father's best friend and musical contractor (for feature films) and would always lend his hands, brains, and time to cook a holiday meal for a friend. He's transferred this love of fine dining to Massachusetts.

In addition to the fine fine cafe you can find prepared food available for take out, a broad selection of products for sale at retail, including baked goods, artisanal cheeses

and cured meats, fine groceries, delicatessen, dairy products, premium coffee beans, beer, wine spirits,

soft drinks, items for the kitchen and table and gifts.

And you get Tim and his local team: All the store's employees are local artisans (and, of course, Tim, his son, and daughter).
