Need a fancy vegetarian friendly date spot in Austin
Hi,
I am looking to take the gal I have been dating out for a special night. I am a vegetarian so looking for places that do that well, but I do eat fish.
Doesn't have to be super fancy, but def should be romantic/cozy/fun. Any thoughts on Wink, Jefferies, Driskoll, 4 seasons?
Or could be way more laid back then that.
I don't want to head out to Fredericksburg because we are both swamped with work right now, that is something I would consider in the future.
BTW I am in North central, so would be nice if the places were downtown or north.
Need Great Austin Eats!
I'll be visiting Austin, Texas in April and have started to scout some spots for the 5 day jaunt. What are some great central city eats? I'm looking for low-key, funky places for dinner, as well as great breakfast joints. Maybe a couple of places that are good for groups too. And if anyone wants to throw in some bars with good music and beers, I'd love some tips. Thanks!
Where to eat in San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas?
I am vacationing in Texas in December: 2 days in San Antonio, 1 day in Austin, 2 days in Dallas/Plano. Where should I eat? Breakfast, lunch, and dinner recommendations welcomed and appreciated!
Real NY Pizza in Austin, TX
I found a place with authentic(!!) New York pizza in Austin, TX and needed to share it with the world. The name of the restaurant is Yaghi’s New York Pizzeria and they have 3 locations in Austin. My son and I moved to Austin from the Bronx in April and were lamenting the loss of real pizza or Chinese food (haven’t found that yet!) in Austin when we saw a comment on this place and gave it a try. The owners are originally from Albany and the pizza is definitely the real thing - great thin, crispy crust, foldable slices and real toppings. My son was thrilled to see the little jars of Parmesan and pepper flakes and even happier with the chicken calzone he had them make for him. The website for the restaurant is http://www.yaghisnewyorkpizza.com/
I needed to recommend this place, it was like a little bit of home!!! Any former New Yorkers living in Austin need to know it exists. BTW - If anyone finds NY style Chinese food in Austin (I miss my Singapore Mei Fun!), please let me know.
food in san antonio/austin
anyone have recommendations for food off the beaten path in the san antonio/austin area? (please not anything on the riverwalk!) like little taco places or hole-in-the-wall barbecue. my husband and i are visiting his family for the week and we'd love to hear if anyone has a favorite place that they go to.
Where to eat in Austin around 6th Street?
...in town for SXSW and was pretty disappointed by Chowhound's recommendations. I'm sure you serious eaters can do better! Please help me out!
