"Round, bold, little bit of a tease. Sharp, open, plausible, very plausible. Trucky, sleuth-like, mysterious. The wine is a mystery novel and I know who done it." Who describes wine this way? Aside from The Connoisseur in this wine snob-targeted skit from sketch comedy group A Week of Kindness, hopefully no one you know. The Connoisseur can't help but taste everything out of a wine glass (whether or not it's edible) and suggest pairings. But in the end, all he really wants is to find out who will best pair with himself.
Watch the skit, after the jump.

Video clips from eight years of The Daily Show went online yesterday. Among our favorites—Steve Carell's Produce Pete clips, in which he sends up those sometimes-painful cooking segments seen on local and national morning shows. This one especially, because Thanksgiving's on our minds.

How did Drew, mastermind behind the hilarious webcomic Toothpaste For Dinner, know that I cared about single origin broccoli? Damn, it was supposed to be a secret.

Despite the fact that it crashed and burned like a soufflé left in the oven too long, the first and only season of Kitchen Confidential makes it to DVD this week. Darren Star's half-hour riff on Anthony Bourdain's excellent memoir starred Bradley Cooper (Alias) as the stand-in for the wiry world-traveler. I don't think more than half of the 13 episodes collected here aired before Fox loudly announced "Check, please!" but if you're a glutton for a Sex-and-the-Citified sitcom where everyone wears chefs' whites, look no further than this two-disc set. Other stars include cult favorites Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks). Netflix at your own risk.

In the latest issue of the Observer Food Monthly, Mr. Bean discusses the peculiarities of French food, like for example how you really don't need to speak French to order off a menu:
Quite frankly, given the Frenchies haven't got enough of their own words and so have stolen and misspelled loads of ours, all sorts of recognisable delicacies can be teased out of the most unhelpful of Parisian menus. 'Moules Mariniere', for instance; any twit with a vague knowledge of the alphabet can get from 'Moules' to mules and 'Mariniere' to mariner and safely come out with seafaring donkeys. Another squeeze of the old loaf and bingo: seahorses! They don't get my taste buds a jumpin' but there you go.
His latest movie, Mr. Bean's Holiday, opened in the UK just last weekend, and he's also got a new book titled, perhaps unsurprisingly, Mr. Bean's Definitive and Extremely Marvellous Guide to France.

Ben & Jerry's newest flavor: Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream, vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel. "I’m not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda," Colbert said in a statement. "What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."
