I started out with a basic drop cookie recipe and added in a cup of assorted leftovers, including Easter corn, jelly beans, cut-up Peeps, and malted egg candies. I won't lie: I was aware that these cookies had the potential to be either awful or awesome.
'Peeps Week 2010' on Serious Eats
Peeps Krispies Treats unsurprisingly taste sweeter and more Peepsy (read: chemical preservatives) than regular Rice Krispies Treats. Thus, this is probably a dream treat for those in the under 12-year-old set. Kids these days and their taste for molten Peeps hearts.
Continuing in the grand Peeps Week tradition, here's our offering for any occasion that calls for awesome and fun all at once: "Peepshi," or Peeps sushi. (Note: no fish or seaweed involved.) This lovechild of Easter and Japan takes inspiration from Masaharu Morimoto and Rice Krispies Treats.
It was really only a matter of time before Peeps, those pillowy pastel harbingers of spring, met the classic marshmallowy sandwich called Fluffernutter. And in this version, the mixture is sandwiched between two heft slices of pound cake.
