Welcome back to My Pie Monday! Eleven inspiring pies made at home by Slice'rs fill today's gallery. Check em out and then make one of your own to send in for next week.
We're eleven pies deep this fine My Pie Monday. This week's collection includes some great looking pies including a wood-fired oven marinara and Margherita, an eggs benedict topped pizza, Aleppo pepper pies, and much, much more!
Happy, My Pie Monday! The pie-making Slice'rs are on fire. Thezaman contributes a hyper regional Sicilian from Youngstown, Ohio, Dhorst is back in business with a new double-decker ovens, and Damian produced a "nearly-politan" with some dough formula tips from TXCraig1. Speaking of TXCraig1, he's falling hard for the Calabrian and Cheese combo. Norma427 produced her best Sicilian to date, and Npinto shares the topping collection pie from the end of a pizza-making evening. Another curtain closing pie comes from Livefreeorpie. The spring topping award this week goes to BKMatt with foraged fiddlehead ferns crowning his pie. Speck gets some play on pies from amusebouche1 and atmast. Redwgn67 lays down a fig spread on this week's pizza, jimmyg works Sambuca into his toppings, and KTC brings buffalo chicken and mac n cheese together on one crust. Bbb-ry is back with a Four Cheese and Mushroom pie, Bierebeer focuses on caramelized onions, and Imwalkin pairs Vidalia onions with pepper shooters.
It's My Pie Monday time, Slicer's! There's a great variety of pies in this week's line-up. Toppings are definitely a MPM stronghold, and this week is no exception. Bierebeer represents with a lobster, garlic, and scallion combo, Jamesws combines baby kale and grapes, onepercent99 uses some aware-winning pulled pork, and Hogletboglet finds a new favorite in the Asian-Moroccan flatbread. Of the season, there's an asparagus and prosciutto pie from jimmyg, TXCraig1's asparagus "Bird's Nest" a la Jim Lahey, an earthy leek and mushroom pizza from redwgn67, and, of course, RAMPS! from dhorst. There's an Adam Kuban related shout out in there, but that's not the only one. In response to last week's Home Slice, Imwalkin sent in a Memorial Meatball Pizza. Ev has the ol wood-fired oven turning out good old fashioned NY-style pepperoni pies, Norma is still tweaking her Sicilian pizza for the market, and Npinto has been busy baking focaccia and pizza. Amusebouche1's been working on Tomato Pie, but not the kind you'd find in Jersey. And last but not least, a big My Pie Monday welcome to SaucedTO, who used a combo BBQ/broiler method.
Happy My Pie Monday, a dozen times over! This week both dmcavanagh and Norma427 worked on perfecting their Sicilians. Atmast did some experimenting as well, reworking her old dough formula into something new. With his first bottle of Mike's Hot Honey, Imwalkin cooked up a hot little number with some Calabrian chiles. Speaking of Calabrian chiles, TXCraig1 (a big fan of the fiery little peppers) featured them on his pie as well. While ingredients can be a great inspiration, the prod of hunger is behind many a kitchen hit. Dhorst's "Fried Green Tomato Naan Pizza" is proof of that, as is Hogletboglet's breakfast pizza. And you're sure to be hungry after you get a glimpse of Npinto's crowd-pleaser, jimmyg's NY sausage, pepper, and green onion pizza, and amusebouche1's duck sausage and prosciutto pie. Maybe the pies seen here will inspire you in the same way that La Madia's grape and taleggio pie did redwgn67, or that sauce recipe in the April issue of Food & Wine did Bierebeer.
Happy My Pie Monday, Slice'rs! There are a dozen beautiful pies to feast your eyes on this week. Mushrooms, arugula, and prosciutto are dominating this week's toppings and the most popular dough making method (which may come as no surprise) is the no knead method. Newcomer arleneivana worked from the recipe Jim Lahey recipe we posted last week (welcome, arleneivana!), as did Imwalkin. Redwgn67 also went the no knead route, but in the pizza bianca style instead. Billgraney is back with a Chicago style deep dish topped with mushroom and roasted red peppers, and dhorst took advantage of the 80 degree weather in Syracuse to break out the grill. In the interest of keeping the peace with his wife, Hogletboglet made some ultra thin crusted Roman pies, and dmcavanagh used up the last of his Pepe's dough from Norma for a happy spring break pie to welcome his daughter home. (Lucky girls!) Speaking of Norma, she's got alfredo, bacon, and spinach topping her Lehmann dough with a new flour this week. And it looks like I saved the prosciuttos for last. Jimmyg paired prosciutto with mushroom on an oblong pie, TXcriag1 found he liked his prosciutto atop of arugula instead of beneath it, and Amusebouche1 also took the prosciutto on top tack for his 'Four Cheese' pie.
This My Pie Monday brought Slice'rs out of the woodwork! Not only has Adam Kuban, the creator of all things Slice, joined the folds, but this round also includes Slice heavyweight Pizzablogger, and the return of Ev. Always great to have you guys. And there's been a whole lot of pizza making going on. This week we are seventeen strong! Among the longtime regular MPMers we have jimmyg, amusebouche1, Norma427, Imwalkin, dmacavanagh, and dhorst. Representing the newer regulars are RobynB, Redwgn67, and Steve Viterali. There's always room for more pie makers around here, so we're happy to welcome npinto, brando, and ccleon. Enough with the introductions, let's get to those fantastic looking pies!
