The Ghetto Gourmet: Cookin' with Coolio

"The man really does warrant the title of ultimate kitchen pimp." [Photographs: Coolio then and now.] Disclaimer: This post contains some NSFW language. Coolio's Favorite Chicken Wings View the complete recipe here » Most of you might remember mid-Nineties hip-hop sensation Coolio for his hit singles Gangsta's Paradise and Fantastic Voyage. But in recent years Coolio has found another audience—not on the mic but behind the stove as host of his cooking videos Cookin' with Coolio. As the self-proclaimed "ghetto Martha Stewart" and the "black Rachael Ray," Coolio got his start in the kitchen at an early age. Without necessities (as basic as a refrigerator) and using bare-bones staples like canned tuna, hot sauce, and white bread, Coolio quickly learned...

Finally, a Heavy Metal Cookbook: 'Hellbent for Cooking'

"As someone who owned several Iron Maiden records before ever thinking about investing in a cast-iron skillet, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this." There are a few guys who have rightly earned themselves the title of "culinary bad boy" in the past few years—ex-chef and travel show host Anthony Bourdain for his legendary snarkiness and propensity for drinking and smoking on air, Marco Pierre White for his legendary temper and exemplary cuisine, hot-headed Momofuku chef David Chang, king of the pork buns. But these guys are nothing compared to the heavy metal home cooks who contributed the recipes for Annick Giroux's new cookbook Hellbent For Cooking. As the editor and publisher of Morbid Tales, underground Canadian metal...

Video: German Man Makes Chocolate Records

Peter Lardong is a record producer in Berlin, but probably not the kind you're thinking. He produces records (that actually play music) from chocolate. After losing his job at a brewery he thought, maybe I should experiment with edible vinyls. "At first I tried to make records out of ice cream, beer, cola, sausages, cheese and even butter...but none of those things quite made it," Lardong explains in the video. And yes, apparently you can eat them after rocking out. Watch him make them after the jump....

The 15-member Bowen Bottle Beer Band plays songs with beer bottles, of course. It doesn't mention whether they get drunk after a successful performance though. Watch the video after the jump....

Video: SNL Digital Short, 'On the Ground'

When someone hands you a free sample of an energy drink, don't take that poison; throw it on the ground. And when a street vendor gives you a free hot dog, don't be his charity case; throw it on the ground. Andy Samberg throws a lot of edible things on the ground while rapping about it in this Saturday Night Live short. Watch the video after the jump....

Video: Disney-fied 'Family Guy' Sings About Pie

Video: 'So Fine' By Telepathe

Telepathe is a Brooklyn-based electronic band of two girls who released an album earlier this year called Dance Mother. Along with the expected mod bangs, flannel shirts, and dancing in dark alleyways, this music video for their song "So Fine" involves bowls of tangerines, marshmallows roasting in candles, and the spice aisle at the grocery store. The video, after the jump....
