2012 SoBe Burger Bash Winners: Michael Symon, Whisk, and Guy Fieri

Congratulations to Michael Symon of Cleveland's B Spot for winning the People's Choice Award at last Friday's South Beach Wine and Food Festival Burger Bash for the third year in a row. This year he made the Porky Burger, a pork and bacon burger topped with pulled pork and coleslaw. Last year he won for his Yo! Burger topped with fried salami, provolone cheese, shasha sauce, and pickled onion; the year before he won for his Fat Doug burger topped with Swiss, pastrami, and coleslaw. More

Dinner Tonight: Linguine with Heirloom Tomato, Capers, Anchovies, and Chile

This Michael Symon recipe from Live to Cook is the kind of pasta dish I adore. Namely because the sauce is cooked quickly, using a mix of fresh, in-season produce and salty cured products. When the pasta is done cooking, it's tossed right into the pan with the sauce, so that each bite is coated with the flavorful mixture. It actually comes off something like a mix between a funky puttanesca and a fiery all'amatriciana. More

Winners of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival's Burger Bash

Congratulations to the winners of last night's Amstel Light Burger Bash at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami. For the second year in a row, Michael Symon won the People's Choice Award, this time for his Yo! Burger topped with fried salami, provolone cheese, shasha sauce, and pickled onion. He also won the award for Best Dressed Burger. The Yo! Burger is available at Symon's Ohio-based burger joint, B Spot (reviewed on AHT last year). More

One Ring Zero's Recipe Music Project

[Image: orzrecipeproject.tumblr.com] Michael Hearst of the band One Ring Zero has already demonstrated his skills for mixing food and music in his Songs for Ice Cream Trucks album. Now he's jamming about chefs' favorite recipes. If you're into the edgier rock stuff, go with Chris Cosentino's Brain and Eggs and for more Bohemian polka-esque sounds, try Mario Batali's Spaghetti with Sweet 100 Tomatoes. The lyrics are not trying to rhyme or be too soulful—it's just the recipe verbatim, which is pretty awesome. Not enough lyrics involve "use small, firm organic pumpkins or winter squashes." 'Dinner Impossible' Premieres Tonight with Host Michael Symon

Winner of Food Network's reality show The Next Iron Chef, Michael Symon will begin hosting Dinner Impossible tonight, kicking off with two back-to-back episodes: one on Alcatraz Island, the other on the New Jersey boardwalk. Symon replaced Robert Irvine after "embellishments and inaccuracies" were made on Irvine's resume in February. According to this video interview (Warning: autoplay video), Symon wasn't allowed to cook on the historic prison island so he prepared everything at an off-site facility then shipped in the food. But as Iron Chef proved, Symon loves a good adrenaline rush. "I'm always pretty jacked up for a good competition," he said in the video. One episode to get excited for: a visit to the Crayola Crayon factory, where... More

In Videos: New 'Dinner Impossible' Chef Michael Symon Makes Chocolate-Covered Bacon

Judging from the preview episode that aired this past Sunday night, the new Dinner Impossible with Michael Symon looks like a winner. This episode takes place in Wildwood, New Jersey, with a challenge to make "upscale boardwalk food" for 600 people using the boardwalk's vendors and supplies. In a stroke of brilliance, Symon gets the venerable Laura's Fudge to help make chocolate-covered bacon with almonds. Video of the bacon after the jump.... More
