Before you fire up the grill for one last summer cookout, check out these ten steps to the perfect burger from the blog Al Dente. The takeaways? Weigh your patties to ensure even portions (and therefore even cooking time), don't be afraid to salt, and follow what we'll call the 3-2-1 rule: Grill for three minutes on the first side, two minutes on the flip, add cheese, and cook for one minute more. Any more tips for grilling the perfect burger?...

A Black Label burger at City Burger in Manhattan. Even before we knew what teams were going to play in the Super Bowl, the crew at Serious Eats World Headquarters was thinking about what food we'd want to eat before, during, and after the game. This year, because we like to give away seriously delicious food whenever we can, we're giving away a couple fantastic Super Bowl party packages, starting with five pounds of what must be the world's juiciest, tastiest hamburgers, La Freida's Black Label. You've read about this proprietary blend of chopped aged prime beef cuts, and now, thanks to the food folks at La Freida Meats in New York, we're giving you a chance to serve...

Zou Shiming, China's gold medal-winning boxer in the light-flyweight division, slimmed down for the Olympics by eating a diet including pizza and hamburgers. Besides that he enjoys eating Western food, he says, "Chinese food is greasy so Western food is helpful when I am trying to control my weight."...

Milwaukee Brewers fans might have reason to get nervous. According to this report from the Onion, starting pitcher CC Sabathia and first baseman Prince Fielder keep envisioning each other as juicy chili cheese dogs and hamburgers on legs, which distracts from the game. Brewers manager Ned Yost had to step in and regulate, announcing that any player who attempts to devour another, no matter how scrumptious they look, will be subject to disciplinary action....

It's hard for me to look at one of Jessie Oleson's drawings of anthropomorphized baked goods and not let out an aw-filled squeal. Her illustration of little Luxembourgers (similar to macarons) mistaking a hamburger for their mommy is ridiculously adorable. The Luxembourgers are so hopeful; the hamburger, so indifferent. You can buy this illustration at Jessie's Etsy shop. Related Photo of the Day: Cupcake vs. Muffin What to Do with Leftover Easter Candy Move Over, Rice Krispies: Cereal Treats Smackdown...

Add beets, and you have got an Aussie Burger. Is there anything greater than the breakfast burger? I love a decent burger, and if you top it with an over easy egg, something magical happens. And that magic is called egg yolk, covering your burger in gooey goodness. Last week I sampled the breakfast burger from Goodburger (a slightly upscale, NYC burger chain) along with some co-workers, one of whom remarked, "Add some beets to this, and you've got an Aussie Burger." Come again? Beets? Now that sounds like something I could get into....

There's something about this photo from Nick Solares's review of Manhattan's Joe Junior that reminds me of a painting. The kind that has yet to hang in a museum because it features...hamburger patties. But look at those juices! The rising steam! Shouldn't a good painting make you hungry? Or did I make that up? I probably did. Dammit, I'm hungry. Related Serious Sandwiches: Is There a Better Condiment than Guacamole? Photo of the Day: Jim Georgie's Donuts A Look Back at Burgers...

Gordon Ramsay is the kind of man that has the words "temper" and "outburst" used in nearly every last thing written about him. The Independent's Jonathan Thompson interviewed Ramsay yesterday to get his reaction on the interviews his former mentor and now long-time nemesis Marco Pierre White's been doing in support of his new book, and of course both "temper" and "outburst" appeared in the piece's very first paragraph. White said "there is a time and a place for McDonald's" and naturally, Ramsay feels quite the opposite: "Strip a Big Mac back of everything it's filled up with and you've got two bland basics: fat and fodder. When you think of how exciting it is to make a hamburger...
