New at Roy Rogers: The Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Ever been to a Roy Rogers? Chances are, if you don't live in the Northeast, you haven't. Once a thriving Northeastern chain, most Roy Rogers locations are now found in highway rest areas. The Western-themed restaurant has always served fried chicken, charbroiled burgers, fries, and chicken fingers, and I don't think I've seen a new menu item from them since I started eating the Gold Rush Chicken Sandwich. But now, they've got a new Spicy Chicken option.

Fast Food Chains in London That Should Be in America

A good chain restaurant, in my mind, doesn't necessarily serve the best version of a given food, in a given city. (Though it might!) What it should do is serve a reasonably tasty version of said food, reliably and at a reasonable price. In London, there are quite a number of chains that I wish would make their way stateside. Here are just a few.

Dunkin' Donuts' Big N' Toasty: At Least It's Toasty

A breakfast staple for generations, Dunkin' Donuts is no longer just a coffee and doughnut stop; they now have an entire line of breakfast sandwiches, and often features limited-time only "savory" offerings, like the pancake sausage bites. Their newest? The "Big N' Toasty," a limited-time-only breakfast sandwich—double bacon, double egg, and thick slabs of Texas Toast.

Angus Attack: Arby's Angus Three Cheese and Bacon

Ever since I tried the Angus Snack Wrap at McDonald's I haven't been able to hear "Angus" without cringing. This past week, roast beef chain Arby's unveiled an Angus roast beef on a sandwich it calls the Angus Three Cheese and Bacon. I had high hopes it'd be able to wipe away all memory of the Snack Wrap in my mind.

Blast from the Past: The McDLT

If you're in the web-native generation that I am, the McDLT might not ring a bell. But those a bit older remember that the McDLT was a burger with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise that McDonald's offered as a response to the Whopper. Its motto? "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool."

Wendy's Spicy Asiago Ranch Chicken Club: Long Name, Small Changes

New fast food products seem to appear at an astonishing rate these days, but some changes are bigger than others. Like last week's Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus Burger at McDonald's, Wendy's Asiago Ranch Chicken Sandwich is a spin on existing menu items. Because I'm such a fan of the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, I was excited about the new Asiago—which comes in Grilled, Homestyle, and Spicy Varieties.

'Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus' at McDonald's

Given how unimpressed I've been with McDonald's Angus Snack Wrap and Angus Burger, I can't say I had high hopes for their new limited-time only release—the Chipotle BBQ Bacon Angus Burger and Snack Wrap.

New at Taco Bell: The Beefy Crunch Burrito

The last time I ate a burrito from Taco Bell was not a pleasant experience. But I steeled my stomach and headed in to try their new Beefy Crunch Burrito. Fritos in a burrito—I feel like Taco Bell stole my third-grade sandwich technique.

Jack in the Box: Breakfast Pita

Breakfast is becoming the new dinner, with many chains turning to breakfast as a means of customer acquisition: Burger King and Subway both recently began promoting breakfast, to name only a few. Breakfast isn't new to Jack in the Box, but the breakfast pita is. The sandwich consists of scrambled egg, bacon, ham, and American cheese all in half of a whole-wheat pita pocket. It builds off of their Chicken Fajita Pita, the first (and only) pita I've ever seen in a major fast food chain.

Fast Food Cheesesteak Challenge

If "cheesesteak" comes up in a word association game, chances are you'll say "Philly." But, unless you're in the City of Brotherly Love, it's often hard to find a decent one—or find one at all. As a lifelong cheesesteak fanatic and native Pennsylvanian (though from the west side of the state), I decided to see how some of the big sub chains would stack up in the cheesesteak department: Subway, Quiznos, Blimpie, and New England favorite D'Angelo.
