Snoop Dogg was on Martha today, making cognac mashed potatoes. I prefer butter. Lots and lots of butter. And here's how Martha prefers them. Video, after the jump. [via Kathryn Yu]...

If you're familiar M.I.A.'s work and stylings, it's a very unexpected list, to be sure. Still not as good as the Foo Fighters' rider (bacon as "God's currency")....

The Guardian reports John Lydon, singer for legendary punk bands Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd., is fattening up the UK in his first ever commercial for Country Life butter. Lydon was known in the past for his anarchist attitude, but in the last few years has pierced through the souls of TV viewers on British reality TV, Discovery Channel, and VH1. Now, instead of the grating chords of "God Save the Queen" running through their heads, Brits will never forget his intonation of "It's not about Great Britain, it's about great butter!" I'm not sure he'll ever live this one down—especially the part when the cows chase him off-screen. Since we can't embed the video, see the over-enthusiastic...

Once I heard Paris Hilton boast on a radio show that she was making pancakes in her pajamas. A date with the Bisquick box—that's probably all the cooking celebs can squeeze into their busy schedules. But beyond the instant batter, Amy Sedaris likes whipping up cupcakes and Elton John craves shrimp curry. We dug up recipes from celebs, both past and present. Some look downright nasty, and most remind me of those old church cookbooks featuring weird combinations of mayo, fried onions, Jell-O, and canned cranberry sauce. Take Britney Spears and her Cheetos chicken casserole: the name alone gives me goosebumps. Celebrity recipes you might actually want to try, after the jump....

In this Yoplait commercial, exercise guru Richard Simmons helps sell low-calorie yogurt by freaking out at female customers who want to indulge in key lime pies and strawberry shortcakes. What he doesn't know is that they're not talking about desserts, but yogurt with the desserts' flavors. Because who needs key lime pie when you have key lime pie-flavored yogurt? It's almost the same! But with less chewing. Watch the commercial after the jump....

Martha Stewart's daughter, Alexis Stewart, is probably not making a precious place setting with fall leaves and acorns right now. Like mother, like daughter only goes so far. Instead, she's somewhere making fun of her mom's early '90s episodes of Martha Stewart Living. That's the premise of the new show Whatever, Martha! Hosted by Alexis and her friend Jennifer Koppelman Hutt (daughter of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia chairman Charles Koppelman), Whatever, Martha! premieres tonight on the Fine Living network. It's a half hour of Alexis and Jennifer vegging on a couch, or engaging in arts and crafts, while making fun of Martha's short shorts, bed fetishes, and masked OCD moments (when kids go berserk with icing, clearly destroying her...

A couple tidbits from his interview in this week's New Yorker: "On a television show, precise acting isn’t the order of the day," he said to me. "It’s a sitcom. The idea is to hit certain beats, and we do it cleverly. But, you do a television show, you become a pastry chef. I’m a pastry chef now; I’m not the big chef at the big restaurant. I’m not Daniel"—a brief pause, then he jutted out his lips in a way that was familiar from his movies, and almost shouted the next word—"Boulud. You know?""I always think, What if you just took your hand off the wheel, and slowly, over time, it all went away, and your life became about,...

To witness one of the most awkward celebrity-endorsed food product commercials ever, check out this commercial from Ortega featuring Olympic gymnasts Shawn Johnson, Paul Hamm, and Morgan Hamm. Get past the low production value and the most unconvincing praise ever given to the Ortega-branded foods, and you will be rewarded with Shawn Johnson declaring, "It makes my taco pop." Interpret that as you wish—if you need any help you can ask the Internet. I really wanted this commercial to be fake, but after seeing this promo I'm horrified to think that this commercial was actually approved. Watch the video after the jump....

The next time you slather the creaminess on toast, please realize: butter has another noble purpose. Inspired by the life-sized butter reconfiguration of Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, we wanted to dig deeper and better understand the curious art form. Butter Sculptures: A Brief History Tibetan Buddhists were first to bestow upon us the butter sculpture. Covering monastery altars and family shrines for years, the intricate offerings are still sacred today. Monk artists work in extremely cold conditions to avoid the inevitable melting issue. During the 19th century, the tradition spread to North America where butter sculpting has become a standard at state fairs. One of the most recognizable and beloved is Butter Cow, first created at the Iowa State...
