Photographs by Mark Menjivar Until recently, I was sharing a kitchen with three other girls in a far away city. Despite any stereotype to the contrary, our kitchen—and especially our fridge—was a mess. Bags of fresh grapes were placed on the top shelf and plates of unfinished food were shoved in uncovered. Some examples: James Brownies, Red Velvet Underground Cake, and Rolling Scones. Every punster is just dying right now. These really are too good. Recipes are included for each. Trader Joe's Fearless Flyers are always a fun flip-through, and most recently, the Joe created a Culinary Compendium (divided up by regions depending on product availability). Things to look out for: a man with a monocle explaining stuffed olive etiquette, the Latin etymology of "butter lettuce," and a marinara sauce riddle.
