Apple-Pecan Bourbon-Caramel Pie

Apple pie and pecan pie: two world-famous classics. But let's be honest, one's a little wholesome and the other's a little too sweet. You know which is which. But what if we combine them into a single pie with an apple filling and pecan bourbon-caramel top "crust"? And what if we told you it's easier to make and assemble than either of the originals? This may be the greatest pie mashup ever. More

Salted Chocolate Pecan Pie

This pie ups the ante in the pecan pie game. It's full of a rich caramel custard and chock-full of pecans, with a healthy dose of chocolate to send it over the edge. With just a tiny hit of salt to balance out the sweet richness of the filling, this pie will be the one they talk about long after Thanksgiving. More

Pie of the Week: Extra Smooth Pumpkin Pie

When you're on a mission to improve something that's already pretty great, small modifications can make a big difference. In this case, I set out to tweak a recipe for pumpkin pie to make a filling that's creamier in texture, slightly more complex in flavor, and less "weepy" in general (since I'm not a fan of soggy bottom crust). It took me three tries to get it just right, but for you, it will only take one. More

Ricotta Cheesecake Pie

This is a lighter alternative to traditional cheesecake. The flaky crust and the addition of ricotta help lighten the affair, making it the perfect finish for early summer dinners. While this pie would be great with any fruit topping, I recommend strawberries and rhubarb, made with frozen or fresh strawberries and fresh rhubarb. More

Pie of the Week: (Something Not Exactly Like) Derby Pie

There used to be a humble neighborhood joint called Mara's Homemade in New York's East Village that served Bayou staples and barbecue. My husband and I visited it annually for shrimp and grits, gumbo, and ribs, which we'd wash down with hurricanes and Abita beers. And though we would be stuffed to the gills by the end of each epic meal, we could never say no to the offer of Derby Pie, which was loaded with buttery bourbon and caramel, pecans, and dark chocolate. It was one of the finest pies in New York City. With Mara's gone, I'm left to my own devices for my Derby Pie fix. More

Bourbon Pumpkin Pie

This is my dream pumpkin pie, smooth and creamy, with a double booze infusion. There's a hint of bourbon in the filling, but since booze that is baked loses its edge, I've incorporated it into the maple bourbon mascarpone topping as well. The combination of the creamy filling and topping and a light layer of toasted pecans makes this pie the winner for adults this holiday season. More
