The Vegan Experience Days 20 and 21: The Vegan Super Bowl Snack Challenge

I'm going to a Super Bowl party on Sunday, but as a man who associates himself strongly with both New York and Boston, I can't say I have much of a dog in the fight this year. To keep things interesting, I've decided to issue myself a personal vegan superbowl challenge. The goal? To bring vegan Super Bowl snacks, serve them to a room full of avowed meat eaters, and make them so good that they get eaten before the regular snacks do. More

The Food Lab: For The Best Buffalo Wings, Fry, Fry Again

Buffalo wings are pure, unadulterated, crispy, greasy, hot & vinegary nuggets of awesome. So given that we're going to be eating so many of the suckers, isn't it our national duty—our duty to the birds, even—to make each and every one the best it can possible be? To not—pardon the terrible pun (and all the terrible puns to follow)—simply wing it? I've had my share of greasy, dry, flaccid, burnt, tough, gristly chicken wings. My only goal today is to figure out how to get the best out of each and every drumette and flat, to create a Super Bowl snack worthy of its American heritage. A bird we could really flip for. More

New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens: Which Team Is the AFC Champ of Food?

Now that you've heard Ed break down the Giants and 49ers game this weekend—with predicted scores determined by their respective food town cred—it's time to talk about the Patriots and Ravens game. Here's a breakdown of all four quarters in the following categories: shellfish, beef sandwiches, pizza, and sweets. More

San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants: Which Team Is the NFC Champ of Food?

The NFC championship game is on Sunday and features teams from two of America's best food cities, San Francisco and New York. As a New Yorker and a serious Giants fan, I am going to try to overcome my intense, enormous bias towards my hometown food and team. 49ers fans should take some solace in the fact that we have some Bay Area natives at SEHQ to keep me in line. Let's score the game by quarters, each with a different category: burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and frozen desserts. More

Serious Entertaining: NFL Team-Themed Platters (Crackers and Toppings)

Such a crazy season calls for crazy playoff parties. Even friends who don't watch football want to come watch the coming games. That's why I'm expanding my typical menu (ribs, wings, guac, chili) to include extra snacks. This platter is a fun, easy twist on cheese and crackers. This year's teams, New York, Baltimore, Boston, and San Francisco, are all amazing food cities and each set of crackers reflects a signature dish. More
