Everyone's got a little Irish in them. Or at least has been to an Irish bar? That counts. In honor of St. Paddy's, here are recipes to go with your pint of Guinness or Bulmers (or
Mangers in the States). We've got multiple soda bread variations, beef stew, corned beef, plenty of cabbage, and stout cake all represented. These aren't necessarily all
truly authentic, but they make us feel a wee bit more Irish.

I've made my fair share of soda breads, corned beef, and Guinness cakes over the years. This year I'm keeping it simple with a menu that honors some of Ireland's best ingredients.

I
really love corned beef. Its salty, spicy, beefy flavor always
reminds me of eating a hot dog in the shape of a steak, and who wouldn't love that? Yum. But the question is, just as a well-boiled hot dog is so much better than a haphazardly boiled dog, shouldn't such a noble food as corned beef be deserving of the most exacting treatment, the most precise controls to optimize the end results?

St. Paddy's Day may be the national dye-whatever-food-you-can-find-green day, but this
seven-layer cake with varying hues of green takes that to a whole 'nother level.

Skip the green beer this St. Patrick's Day. We asked three wine professionals to recommend wines to pair with traditional Irish dishes. They range from Oregon Pinots to French Syrahs and even Champagne.

With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, this week's
Mixed Review, is on the official
Guinness Bread Mix. Beer bread mixes are usually pretty simple to throw together, but this one was a bit more involved. It required additions of butter, milk, beer, molasses, and (optional) raisins. But if you aren't feeling the mix, try this from-scratch recipe for
Plum Biercake instead.
