Fast Food: McDonald's Chicken McBites

McBites are more reminiscent of real fried chicken than Nugget, with a heavily salted and peppered crust that makes an afterthought of the little bit of white meat inside. The exterior overpowers the bland white meat to the point where you're effectively eating fried-fried rather than fried chicken.

McDonald's New Apple Cinnamon Walnut Oatmeal

Last year McDonald's stepped up to the oatmeal scene with their Maple and Fruit oatmeal. The flavor is still available, but now joined by another: Apple Cinnamon Walnut Oatmeal. While McOats should be a good thing for the world (more oats = a good thing), don't expect a stovetop-cooked texture or steel-cut sophistication.

Fast Food: My McRib Confession

Ribs are awesome, but ribs are also a barbaric mess. Which is why we have the McRib. Yes, McDonald's has once again deigned to trot out its porky show pony for a limited run, much to the delight of its vocal minority of superfans and much to the chagrin of the strange cadre of Internet people with "Born to Lash Back" tattooed across their typing knuckles. To me, the only thing weirder than getting overly excited about the McRib's occasional couple-month stand is getting overly vexed about the overexcitement.

The Best Way To Eat Breakfast at McDonald's

I like McDonald's breakfast sandwiches, my wife loves their Hash Browns, and just the other day I was thinking about how there aren't enough crispy-potato-as-sandwich-filling sandwiches. Putting these three thoughts together I was struck by an idea that could be a) genius, b) stupid, or c) ingeniously stupid. You be the judge.

New McNugget Sauces from McDonald's

McDonald's recently expanded its line of McNugget sauces beyond the basic Sweet & Sour, Tangy Barbecue, and Hot Mustard to include Chipotle Barbecue, Sweet Chili, Spicy Buffalo, Creamy Ranch, and Honey Mustard. As a certified Nugget-head, I enlisted the help of Robyn in an eight-way nugget sauce taste-off. (We also injected some nuggets with sauce.) Here's what we thought.

Sauce-Injected McNuggets

Sometimes life presents you with opportunities that are simultaneously utterly ridiculous but simply too good to pass up on. Case in point: What do you do when you have a buttload of leftover McNuggets and sauce from McDonalds sitting on your desk right next to a plastic syringe?

McDonald's in the UK: Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry and Mozzarella Dippers

What can the Brits munch on that Americans can't at the Golden Arches? For the most part, the menu is quite similar. There's the Quarter Pounder, the McNuggets, and the fries are even called fries, not "chips." But there are a few things that you won't find in an American McDonald's—among them, a Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry and Mozzarella Sticks. (Actually, they're called "Mozzarella Dippers.")

McCafe in Paris: Way Better Than McCafe in the States

While in America, "McCafe" means little more than brown, printed coffee cups, McCafe in Europe is the coffee/pastries-only subsection of McDonald's, and it's an experience all its own. It lives in the land between Italian coffee shop and American quick service.

The Best Fast-Food Fried Chicken Sandwich?

In the fast food world, fried chicken sandwiches are the new black. Just about every chain, whether a burger chain or fried chicken establishment, offers multiple versions. But which are the best? We tried the standard fried chicken sandwiches, whether chicken patty-like or chicken fillet-like, from KFC, Popeye's, McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Wendy's, and Burger King. During the tasting, one thing became very clear: not all chicken is created equal.

Blast from the Past: The McDLT

If you're in the web-native generation that I am, the McDLT might not ring a bell. But those a bit older remember that the McDLT was a burger with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise that McDonald's offered as a response to the Whopper. Its motto? "Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool."
