Jilly: "Gosh, I miss my mom and grandmas so much. When my mom and grandmas were all alive, my sister and I would take them out for a nice dinner. Usually early, around 4 p.m., and they would all worry about spending too much of our money. They would never have an appetizer, unless it was included, and occasionally we could coax them into a dessert. And then all my grandmas on the way out would try to slip us some cash! How frigging cute is that! It was very funny and sweet and I am lucky to have these wonderful memories of the great women in my life. Make this a very special day for your moms—they deserve it."

Bubbleandsqueak: "I have a cookbook handwritten by my Mom with all our passed down family favorites. I love my Grandpa's perogi recipe...He had such a sense of humor. The recipe for the dough makes about 28 perogi while the filling recipe makes enough for 300! Took me 3 years to get it right! Thanks Papa!"

"I don't do this (much) any more, but when I was a child
I would pick out and eat the vegetables in my soup in a certain order. All the carrots first, then celery, then peas, etc. I'd leave whatever was my favorite at the time for last and mush it up with the broth. Soup tasted better that way. ;)"

"I love this book. The Flavor Bible is like a Pantone swatch book for a cook. It's a great resource for flavor profiles when you're kind of stuck in a rut."
