How do you know you're from Utah? When your mom has over ten recipes for Jell-O. In a feature at the The Atlantic, Scarlett Lindeman, who spent part of her childhood in Utah, talks about the abundance of Jell-O and other common dishes found in Mormon cuisine, which she describes as being built around "feeding dozens of mouths from pantry stores and prudent seasoning."Video: Squirrel Monkeys Eating Jell-O
These squirrel monkeys from the Bronx Zoo received "a jiggly concoction that immediately stimulates their foraging instincts"—that is, Jell-O with blueberries inside. Artist Andrew Salomone made a portrait of former Jell-O spokesman Bill Cosby out of an appropriate medium: Jell-O shots. The configuration of approximately 1,000 cups of Jell-O was unveiled last Sunday at Buoy Gallery in Kittery, Maine. There's an accompanying video of the portrait's transformation over the course of the night. (I assume most of it was consumed by the end.) Photographs from Halloween Mart and Fire Box I came across this brain Jello-O mold while searching for decorations for my Halloween party. It's pretty creepy looking, and I'm not sure I would eat it, but I bet it make a great centerpiece. If a human brain isn't your thing, consider a zombie brain, an anatomical heart, or a hand. While jiggling cubes of Jell-O don't usually catch my attention or make my mouth water, the rainbow Jell-O from Do Better triggered the part of my brain that squeals, "Ooh, pretty colors!"
