Snapshots from Foodstock, Wesleyan University's Food Conference

Wesleyan University in Connecticut recently held Foodstock, a food conference dedicated to cooks and books. The all-day extravaganza featured some of the food world's best and brightest writers (including SE contributors!) as well as local food bloggers, cookbook authors, and chefs. Of the many speakers, some highlights included Ruth Reichl, Eric Asimov, Dorie Greenspan, Molly O'Neill, and Jane Stern. Check out some snapshots from Foodstock! More

16 Great Bites from the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

We spent the weekend eating biscuits, drinking bourbon, and having a grand time at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. In its second year, the four-day event celebrates the rich food and drink traditions of the south, bringing together talented chefs hailing from 13 states and D.C. The group of expert chicken fryers, bourbon distillers, biscuit bakers and other Southern food and drink authorities rolled up their sleeves to teach us at seminars and feed us inside the tasting tents. Check out the snapshots of our favorite bites! More

Snapshots From Bon Appetit's Chef's Night Out In New York

In other industries, you might spend the night before the biggest event of the year—in the food world, that's tonight's James Beard Foundation Chef awards—I don't know, resting, or watching Mad Men, or eating a sensible meal and going to bed early. But that's not what chefs do. Instead, they turned out in full force to Chef's Night Out at Chelsea Market, for a Negroni or six and good eats from the Chelsea Market crew. Take a look! More

Snapshots from the Sweetlife Food and Music Festival

We had a blast over the weekend feeding muffulettas to a bunch of happy people at the Sweetlife Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. We drove down in the Salumeria Biellese truck with all of our muffuletta supplies: sopressata, capicola, mortadella, provolone, olive salad (eight gallons of it!) and 250 round loaves of bread from Parisi Bakery, fresh-baked just before our 4 a.m. departure Saturday morning (that fresh). Here are some snapshots from the festival, including close-ups of the mighty muffuletta. More

Snapshots from Los Angeles Loves Alex's Lemonade Benefit

Last Last Sunday, on the lawn of Culver Studios, the chef-tacular second annual L.A. Loves Alex's Lemonade benefit was held for pediatric cancer research. Deeply moved by Alex's story, Los Angeles chefs Suzanne Goin(AOC, Lucques, Tavern) and husband David Lentz (The Hungry Cat), plus Goin's business partner Caroline Styne, have collected an astonishing group of chefs, mixologists and vintners. Everyone came out to lend a hand, a grill and a copious amount of wine and whisky to support the cause. More

16 Tasty Bites from Sunset Magazine's Savor the Central Coast Festival in California

For its second year, Sunset's Savor the Central Coast set up on the historic 14,000-acre Santa Margarita ranch near San Luis Obispo. Winemakers, chefs, brewers, farmers, and artisan food makers from all over California's oft undercelebrated middle region between San Francisco and Los Angeles, were plating and pouring samples all weekend. Among the favorite bites were some beautiful grilled Morro Bay oysters, lamb tagine, a goat cheese souffle, boar cavatelli, and more More

Off the Grid: San Francisco's Expanding Mobile Food Market

Off the Grid, San Francisco's mobile food truck market, has expanded in its second year to ten weekly events in nine locations (including San Mateo and Berkeley), six days a week. Check out photos of all 23 foods we tried from the market.
