Video: Domino's Stalks People Who Haven't Tried Its New Recipe

You've gotta hand it to Domino's. The pizza chain is approaching Burger King levels when it comes to viral marketing stunts. In this video they've concocted elaborate personalized ad campaigns for three men who still hadn't tried the new pizza, creating custom billboards and radio spots and going as far as flashing messages on a traffic alert sign and sending up an airplane banner. Taste Test: Delivery Pepperoni Pizza

"There were definitely two winners, and two that would require a lot more beer-drinking." Clockwise from top left: Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Domino's, Little Caesars. [Photographs: Robyn Lee] Since pizza is right up there with wings and guacamole as far as Super Bowl cuisine goes, we ordered pepperoni pizzas from the four big nationwide chains (Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Domino's) to find the tastiest. Why pepperoni? Because most people order pizza with at least one topping and pepperoni is the most popular one in the U.S.... More

There's nothing shocking or surprising in the video itself, but it's worth noting that Domino's seems to be following a sort of social-media approach in pushing this new pie. See The Pizza Turnaround, after the jump.... More

Call and Response

I love this post and (especially) the first response to it on the boards of the Notre Dame–centric site NDNation. The post: The girlfriend and I decided to order in pizza last night after a long day of running errands. Ordered from the usual Domino's in my area of town, and everything went as planned. Good delivery time, good pizza, and a friendly delivery man. Nothing out of the ordinary yet.Fast forward to 5 minutes ago. The manager of this Domino's just called me to see how everything was. He wanted to know if the driver was courteous, if the... More

The big news in pizzaland yesterday was that Domino's announced that it had a new core pizza recipe. The crust now has a garlic-herb seasoning; the sauce is supposed to be sweeter and bolder; and the cheese, well, the company is promising "shredded cheese made with 100% real mozzarella and flavored with just a hint of provolone," which makes you wonder what they were using before. Anyway, as soon as we posted the news on Slice, we jumped to dominos.com to order. How does the new Domino's pizza taste? you ask? Is it better? Is it good? Find out, my... More

Domino's Changes Core Pizza Recipe
