I especially love cinnamon in the morning—think: morning buns and cinnamon rolls— but it really pairs well with anything sweet or buttery. In fact every bakery in the Bay seems to have at least one cinnamon sweet on their menu, so which to choose? We've sifted through the offerings, and from cinnamon toast ice cream to iced cinnamon apple fritters, here are 7 cinnamon sweets that we love in San Francisco.
'Acme bread' on Serious Eats
This sandwich from Acme Bread ($5.15) is simplicity at its best. A rustic sweet baguette is topped with thin slices of Fra Mani Toscano salame, cornichons, and sweet European butter.
A cup of coffee from Blue Bottle alone is worth braving the line at their Ferry Building location. But waiting can also give rise to some excellent ideas—like ordering one or both of the small, simple, and perfectly delicious sandwiches. Each is served on a quarter of crusty sweet baguette (from Acme Bread, just down the way) in a coffee filter, halved and lightly layered with high quality ingredients.
