In Videos: The Off-the-Menu McDonald's Brunch Sandwich

20080715-in-videos-mcdonalds-brunch-sandwich.jpg

Brunch haters are few and far between, but McDonald's is one of them. That 11 a.m. deadline for breakfast foods is so strict, leaving absolutely no wiggle room between Egg McMuffin and Big Mac service. Is it so wrong to crave an egg sandwich at lunchtime and double meat patty at 9 a.m.? Or both at once? Don't they stock everything in the back anyway?

Two self-proclaimed "Internet Celebrities" Dallas Penn and Rafi Kam hopped into a fast food spaceship to another cosmos where McDonald's brunch sandwiches exist. Arriving at 10:55 a.m. just before the changing of the guard, they ordered breakfast then hopped back into line at 11:01 a.m.

The result: Canadian bacon, the "round eggy thing," fries, Premium Chicken Select Strips, and honey mustard, all inside the McGriddle bread. Yes, they went there. Because they call the shots, "not the clown." After the jump, watch the meal rebellion, but be aware, the language is NSFW. [via SoGoodBlog]

I never understood the "no brunch after 11" rule either. In Hong Kong (and I think in most McD's in Asia), you can get your sausage egg mcmuffin at any time of day. So I guess it's a regional thing?

So, I was just researching for a post on my blog and found that on the McDonald's website, they have a feature called "McDonald's Trip Planner" where you can enter your start and end destinations, and McDonald's will map out your trip with all of the McDonald's stops along the way. I mean, I map out my vacations based around restaurants too, but good LORD. Do you think people actually use this?

Also, I think it is a shame that MCD doesn't serve breakfast throughout the day, since an Egg McMuffin might be the only thing I would eat from that place.

1. That's just filthy.
2. I agree with Renee. The egg mcmuffin is the only thing I like at McD's (except of course, the french fries). They SHOULD serve it all day. This is why Jack in the Box is a superior fast food establishment. ;)

the mcD's by me serves breakfast til noon! =D

They make chicken biscuits here in Houston, TX. You don't have to wait for lunch to get the chicken.

How a Big Mac with their breakfast sandwich instead. I think a hash brown would be better on it than the fries.

Sonic Drive-In has breakfast and lunch all day long.

You can get a hamburger at Whataburger 24 hours a day.

that's pretty funny. i would think mcdonalds would have been one of the first fast food joints to do breakfast all day, but nope, jack in the box and sonic beat them to it. i guess they are too busy competing with chick-fil-a and starbucks!
oh, and referring to reneerobinson's post about "mcdonald's trip planner"... seriously, how hard is it to find one? you can usually see the next one down the road from the drive thru of the one you decided to stop at. and oh, grand canyon village doesn't have a mcdonald's? well we won't stop there, kids! wow.

Boy they sure showed McDonalds...right before they keeled over from a heart attack!

Meh. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Gross, but funny.

@ReneeRobinson: Yes. Some people seem to plan trips around eating at McD. I was watching Travel Channel and saw some show about like 10 unique McDs or something. It was hosted by some guy whose eaten at thousands of McDs. He's on a quest to eat at every single one or something like that.

Sure, it's by no means a significant number of people...
