Google Map of Starbucks Closing

20080718-starbucksmap.jpg

One of the many uses of a Google map: informing you which Starbucks are shutting down. Here's a handy map provided by CNN Money, based on a list released Thursday of the 616 stores closing by the first half of 2009.

Starbucks operates 7,087 stores in the United States, so this represents an 8.7 percent drop.

Is your Starbucks on its last grinds? If so, what will you do without it?

I find this more than a little foreboding.

Also, the little ad floating over the page:

Desperate times!!

i see there is no plan to close one of the two starbucks across the street from each other in houston, tx. they must be sufficiently profitable! (or did they close one awhile ago?)

Sad! The one I used to go to on my way home to my parents' house from the mall is gone :( Probably cause there's another one about .5 miles away from the first....but it's so much less convenient than the little one they're closing!

The one nearest my mom's house is closing. Considering how often she stops there, I'm sure she's not going to be happy about it. That woman loves her coffee.
