While I don't expect these muckity mucks to starve themselves, I would expect a certain amount of moderation, and modesty in regards to their eating habits when the focus of their meeting is to address world hunger and food shortages... Lead by example indeed....

Considering the class and incomes of these leaders, this really isn't a surprise.
Seems to me that now we know why not much is ever accomplished - they're always eating!

Everybody is outraged at everything these days. :P
The article seems incomplete. Where is the follow-up of what they did with the leftover food? Was it all eaten, donated, or thrown away? Exactly how large were these "courses"? Was each dish in each course 1/2 oz servings or measuring in the pounds like an all-you-can-eat buffet?
The food crisis shouldn't be an outcry on the type of food eaten but the waste that occurs at every restaurant, as well as homes, around the world every day.
I suppose the exception may be the many Asian restaurants that recycle food, i.e., customer leftovers served as fried rice or other dishes to the next customer. We ought to follow suit by boxing these leftovers and sending them to local shelters instead of throwing them away. Of course, accepting these meals will need to come with a disclaimer that voids recipients from suing in the event they coincidentally fall ill after eating a meal.
From the 8 course menu, the dishes don't look very different from dishes I eat on a fairly regular basis. I am not interested in truffles nor do I drink alcohol or coffee, if that tells ya what I don't consume regularly. :P
Do some people expect these politicians to bicycle and kayak their way to a meeting on energy crisis?
