Best Dinner Party Jewelry: Finger Food Rings

20080719-fingerfood.jpg

Juggling the mini quiches with the teriyaki chicken wings and salmon rillettes is stressful. I can't tell you how many times I wonder, "How will I balance this sparkling rosé with all my tiny sustenances?" Houseware designers Fred & Friends created the Finger Food ring so nibbles can rest peacefully on your finger. Ah, relief. Ten reusable ring "plates" come in each pack. [via Presurfer]

I like that better than the Crate & Barrel plates with the thumb hole OR you can rest your glass stem in there. The wine glass being in the hole makes me think it might be off balance easily.. let me fnd the link.

Ten in a box. Ok, I could splay my fingers and fill up with appetizers if someone else positioned them, but I'd have to be really careful not to tilt. Would I need to put my face down on top to prevent losing them? Maybe that's greedy. Instead, I'll hold my wine with my left hand, set it down to refill my finger plates and again, try not to tilt. If I were truly polite and only used one as pictured, the appy would descend into my wine the moment I tried to take a sip. Ah, to have such little problems. ;0

I think a lot more food would end up on the floor rather than perched atop that little tray or in people's mouths. I wonder what the model's other hand is doing?

I think these are genius. I'd wear one on each finger (palm up). This is smart and inexpensive and convenient. Perhaps not for a black tie event, but for a tasting with a bunch of friends at home or a young & chic type of party.

I'm dubious, if only for the fact that the hors d'oeuvre on the plate is (badly) photoshopped in. For that matter, so is the plate on the finger. And the background.

Someone needs a better designer, stat!
