Individually Wrapped Cashew Is Full of Fail

20080508-cashew.jpg

Culinary Abortions from Japan is a hilarious blog written by a Canadian documenting the food failures of Japan—"failures" including off-putting flavors, poorly named items, excessive packaging, or all of the above.

While the wrongness of these foods may mostly be culturally relative, I can't argue against individually wrapped cashews joining the list. It's not like the cashew is a giant mutant worthy of its own bag; the description reads, "Aside from a light gown of salt, it rests naked within its deplorable womb of plastic."

I suppose it's good if you have a major portion-control problem, though.

Haha... ok, that's just silly. :)

Now i can read about weird Japanese food and get my daily fill of bashing America!

/snark.

This blog is kinda needlessly venomous against a culture not his/her own, don't you think?

While some of the food items are amusement-worthy, the commentary is ouch inducing.

@fuuchan: I assumed that the excessively ouch-inducing writing style was tongue-in-cheek...buuut I could be wrong.

oh man....why is this world so damn serious? You read it as 'ouch inducing' (what ever that means), it's called laughing at food & ourselves dammit. Read around this blog for awhile before you assume the participants lack of respect for other cultures.

Turns out that "culinary abortions" are about as funny as surgical abortions.

Fail.

shit like this, individually wrapped cashew nuts and other examples of excessive packaging and industrial food, should be illegal. it son't find it funny at all, it's sad and enfuriating. it's shameful. don't give me any cultural relativisitc crap, it's just plain wrong, no matter where it's from, be it japan, the us, europe, or anywhere else.

Turns out that "culinary abortions" are about as funny as surgical abortions.

Ohhhh my.... now THAT was certainly "ouch inducing".

I think individually-wrapped cashews are full of a very painful WIN. They're hilarious but, as simon wrote, very wasteful.
