PrintPETA to Offer $1 Million X-Prize for Artificial Meat
In vitro meat: is it meat? PETA is set to announce on Monday a $1 million prize to the "first person to come up with a method to produce commercially viable quantities of in vitro meat at competitive prices by 2012." The decision caused a "near civil war" within the organization "since so many PETA members are repulsed by the thought of eating animal tissue, even if no animals are killed."

i love animals, and especially eating them.... but invitro just plain sounds downright bizarre!

As long as the meat is genetically the same as that from slaughtered animals, I'd give it a try. Without doing any research, I'd think that it would be much more environmentally friendly to grow meat rather than raise it.

In vitro meat?! That sounds gross. Whoever thought that sounds appealing must be on something. I like knowing where my food comes from, and in vitro meat isn't one of them.
