PrintPickle Sickle, Anyone?
Nothing beats the heat on a hot, sweaty day like a...frozen pickle pop? These kids seem to think so.

Bob's Pickle Pops are gaining in popularity, both in schools and among those watching their weight. Made "not from just the brine left over from pickling, but from freshly squeezed pickles, much like an apple or orange is pressed," Bob's Pickle Pops are consumed either "frozen or unfrozen".
As a pickle lover, I'm torn; is this the best or worst idea ever?
According to the Pickle Sickle website, I'm not alone:
"This is one of those crazy ideas that should have died a quick and horrible death right from the beginning, right? But it didn't. As a matter of fact, it is an idea that just won't die."
Pickle Sickle insists that trying them means liking them, and that people can't get enough of the "bizarre tasting Texas craze." Would anyone like to split a case?

I think I've mentioned this before, but growing up, the roller rink in my town sold a homemade version of these. Pickle Pops! I LOVED them, they were one of the highlights of going to the roller rink (which I was only allowed to do for birthday parties, since it was and still is in a 'bad' part of town). I would love to try one!

I am so disgusted/intrigued at the same time. I love pickles, but the thought of frozen pickle juice makes me a little queasy.

I feel kind of sickle too. This is too weird for me, but some people like to drink pickle juice so I guess there's a market. I could see them branching out to olive brine popsicles, which might sound good to dirty martini fans.

This company sent me a press release, and I was really grossed out -- but 2 pregnant women in my office both said it sounded really good to them. So there you go!

I'm thinking pickle flights now.
Start the meal with various sorts of pickles in their various guises. All of them cucumber, of course - so that the taste variations could be noted and dissembled. Dissembled meaning whatever meaning you wish it to have, as we are talking of pickles here and everyone knows what sort of personality pickles have.
The main course would be a Russian pickle soup accompanied by Southern deep-fried pickles.
Dessert would be a chocolate-pickle fleur-de-sel caramel with a side of banana-pudding pickle foam served in a hollowed-out pickle capped with some Pickle Sickles.
Now wouldn't it be loverly!

I'm from Texas and the city ball park would sell pickle juice snowcones. Loved them as a kid, so I will give these a shot if I come across them. Also love fried pickles too, but that is another post.

I'd try it ... sounds like something that might thrive on the fair/festival circuit, right next to fried Twinkies and *insert food item* on a stick.

I HAVE TRIED THEM! My dear friend and downstairs neighbor recently had a baby, and during her pregnancy, her partner went online and ordered her a case of these (in what would appear to be a halfhearted attempt to play into the old 'you're pregnant so will likely want to eat weird things' idea). She raved about them and wouldn't quit pushing them on me until I tried one, and lo, with her face grinning at me in wild anticipation of my first crunchy, yellowish-green frozen bite, I was instantly horrified. Yeah, it's pickly. It's ice cold. It's salty, vinegary, hard as a rock, with absolutely no hint of sweetness. I really wanted to support her love of them, but I just couldn't. They ARE as gross as they seem. Kids would probably totally love them just for the shock value. However, I must say this -the company apparently kicks butt, because they later sent her a whole second case and a t-shirt for FREE, along with a nice thank-you letter for their first purchase. You certainly don't see that... well, ever!
