Photo of the Day: Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrick's Day

potd-stpatssodabread.jpg

Jesse Oleson of Cakespy made six different variations of Irish soda bread in her attempt to find the most delicious combination of additions: raisins, green dye, raisins, green frosting, melty mints, and green jelly beans. The winner? All of the above. (As for what the green food coloring does, it makes it cuter. Don't deny the power of cute!)

Oh wow, I'm sorry, but all but possibly the lower right hand one look absolutely disgusting. No funny coloured food for me, thanks.

adorable? not so much... i like my soda bread straight up!

Is that okra in the top one?

"don't deny the power of cute!"
were there ever truer words spoken? i feel like that should be japan's national anthem =p

Truly dismaying. Not soda bread, but freakish cakes. You can call it whatever you'd like (plunger, tap shoes, Rhode Island), but that doesn't make it so.

The power of the cute cannot be denied. These are not cute and there is no power.

Perhaps it's just the photo, but the two green frostings look sickly. I know food can't actually be sickly but that's what they look like.

Looks good to me! I'd eat it.
