Peep Inside a Chocolate Egg: The Must-Have Easter Candy

peepchocolateegg.jpgCandyblog awards the Easter candy, Marshmallow Peeps inside a Milk Chocolate Egg, a 5 out of 10, or "Pleasant" on a scale of "Inedible" to "Superb." Guess what it's made of? Just guess!

So yes, this is where Peeps come from—within the thick concave walls of "passable" milk chocolate. Some of Candyblog's commenters pointed out that with some graham crackers and a source of heat, this candy could double as filling for s'mores. Granted, the Peep would die in the process, but it all ends up in the same place anyway.

Peeps just totally gross me out but not as bad as those Cadbury eggs that REALLY look like a raw egg when you open them - YUK

I have posted here before that I have a PEEP addiction...yes I know how gross they are but I will eat them still I feel sick and then could do it all over again the next day. If the chocolate was really good this could be the perfect Easter food, even with only ok chocolate I will have to give them a try.

Peeps are evil. Oh, so evil. How dare they contaminate a delicious chocolate egg with their marshmallow filth?

That is really adorable, but I still wouldn't eat it.

Heh heh...Peep in a chocolate boat. XD

I agree with sheeats and narinda... evil and adorable. I do take exception with sheeats' comment about a "delicious chocolate egg" -- there's no way I could begin to imagine the possibility that this particular chocolate might come even remotely close to delicious. What are you thinking girlfriend? ;-D

Blech.

Awww... the DIY peeps link doesn't work anymore. :(

This one is helpful, though: http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/peeps

Peep s'mores are the best! My recipe includes placing a Peep atop of a chocolate layered gram cracker, zapping it in the microwave for about 4 or 5 seconds (watch it's gullet expand, it's pretty much the greatest thing ever) and then enjoying and repeating. :)

I have this horribly funny image of the egg over a fire with the peep head popping out like it's begging for help. But you continue to hold it over the fire and maniacally laugh as it melts and dies and you smash it between 2 graham crackers and shove it in your mouth with crumbs flying all over the place.
