Tyler Florence on the dubious honor of winning Anthony Bourdain and Michael Ruhlman's "Rocco" Golden Clog award:
"I think that salacious, chef attack thing that Gordon Ramsey and Tony Bourdain do all the time is a shtick. I think people are tired of hearing it. With Tony, it's like... those who can't teach, criticize [others]. I don’t know what he does honestly."

I think Florence is dead on in this case. Bourdain's schitck is very, very tired.

Tyler's certainly not worthless, not like some of the bobbleheads on TVFN. But that website is extremely hilarious, lexophile. I've never seen a self-promotion website that was so vain for someone that's not a model.
Bourdain has also rescinded a LOT of his former hate for people like Emeril and Bobby Flay. Heck, even the oft-shamed Rocco di Spirito was able to take the whole Golden Clog thing for what it was - slightly drunken, humorous introspection & self-analysis.

^ I also thought Florence and Jacob (the owner of Food Network Addict, where the interview was originally posted) took the Golden Clogs too seriously as well. Jacob described the presentation of the Rocco, the award that Florence "received," as "chastising." I don't think Bourdain and Rulhman wanted to treat Florence like he was a bad child. I'm guessing Florence and especially Jacob misconstrued the fact that Florence said he wasn't attending the Golden Clogs because he was cleaning a fish for the BubbleQ later that afternoon. Plus Florence might've read that Food Network memo that Bourdain mentioned in his Travel Channel blog about not attending the Golden Clogs and decided to snub Bourdain on the basis of the memo.

So I hit the website and loved the intro song so much I bought it on itunes "Steady As She Goes" by the Raconteurs. That was the good. It really does look like a model's website, doesn't it? I want one just like it. That way I too can be cool and fabulous.
Honestly, I think the Golden Clogs are pretty much like the Razzies. One can learn from Halle Berry, who actually went there, accepted the award, made an hysterically funny acceptance speech and won the respect of many. It's funny, and he kinda deserved it. He's been seen as a much better man if he just smiled and laughed about it.
Oh, and I really do think that Bordain's schtick is wearing thing, but the Clogs? Love 'em.

Tyler is ABsolutely adorable and I love his website......BOOM. (That's his BAM). The Golden Clogs were hilarious and TF deserved his Rocco. Smile that gorgeous smile and get over it and have an ABsolutely fanTAStic life, you cutie you.
