Happy Pi(e) Day!

What makes March 14 so special? Besides that it's Friday, it's also the Pi Day! And while the purpose of this day may be to honor our favorite mathematical constant, it's also a great excuse to eat its buttery crusted homophone: pie.

I think in honor of it being the 20th anniversary of Pi Day, you should feel no shame in eating at least 20 different kinds of pies. (You don't have to finish all of them; just think of it as a pie buffet.)

A bunch of bloggers and I got together and are having a pie day online. We've posted all our favorite pie recipes to celebrate.

Technically, it is a homophone. Homonyms are spelled alike in addition to sounding alike. But I'm probably just grumpy because I have no pie.

@feelgood: Ah, sorry for the mistake! I've corrected it now.

I made mini key lime pies in celebration of today's holiday. :)

raspberry eggplant

i'm making calzones tonight - does that count as pie? I hope my dough is rising well!

Yay Pi Day! What a cool photo. I made a pie in celebration too. It came out terribly and beautifully at the same time.

Woohoo someone else decided to celebrate Pi Day!!! I decided Pi Day was going to be my holiday at work. One of my coworkers did all sorts of decorations and stuff for Halloween so that was his so I decided Pi Day was going to be mine. Naturally I couldn't just do a pie or 2, that would hardly make it my holiday.....

See my blog (I know I just started blogging, it's not very coherent and I need a real camera not just the one built into my laptop) http://whyamisoboring.blogspot.com/2008/03/pie-day.html to see all my pies.

I made Dutch Apple Pie in honor of Pi/Pie day and it's so tasty I wish 3.14 came around more often!!

You did it again Robyn........perfect photo!
