In Videos: Korean Kimchi Commercial

videos-koreankimchi.jpg

I think this is a genuine commercial about kimchi. And that frightens me. Just a bit. Especially when the pile of fermenting kimchi pulsates. As for why the labels on the kimchi jars are in Japanese and the commercial is dubbed in English, I have no idea.

Watch the commercial after the jump. Prepare to be blown away.

I assume that the brand name is "korean kimchi" and that it's probably a japanese company. not sure about why they're singing in english though.

It's the wriggling shrimp that get me.

Ah, the beating heart of primordial kimchi.

Scary. I don't want that in my tummy.

aw man, look at the salted fish try to jump and escape their fate

I don't think this promotes a particular product as much as promotes the excellence of Korean Kimchi over Kimchi made elsewhere. More details here: http://www.kimchi.or.kr/eng/about/character/1177883_3951.html

@seadkdc: Thanks for the link!

I'm so confused... so this is globalization. Japanese-made kimchi (Korean) advertised in English. This world so confused...

I think it is promoting...fermentation? I am strangely fascinated.

It's actually a video produced/funded by the Korean Agroculture & Fishery Marketing Association to promote kimchi in Japan. It stresses qualities of kimchi that they think appeal to Japanese customers.
