In Videos: McDonald's France's 'Big Tasty' Commercial

videos-bigtasty.jpg

McDonald's France takes a hyper-American approach in marketing its Big Tasty Burger to the French public by conjuring up classic images of the American west reminiscent of the Marlboro Man. "Rediscover the taste of liberty with the Big Tasty," the announcer declares in a husky voice. But don't ignore the note at the bottom of the screen to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day!

The overt American sentiments of the commercial have been noted in a parody version. [Thanks to Yann Escarment for the heads up.]

Looks like someone in Mickey D's marketing department read Clotaire Rapaille's "The Culture Code." Ranches and bald eagles are totally on-code for an American product.

What no baseball, apple pie or Chevrolet?

Big Testi.

oh wow.... did you see the wicked MULLET on the guy in the red truck??? Now THAT is a product we shouldn't force upon any culture.

That "eat five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday" print (or manger bouger which literally translates to "eat move") has been on every fast food, junk food, cheese commercial on TV. Looks like the the french aren't so skinny after all!

What............no "fromage"?
