If you can catch one, hell yeah!

After the jump watch Slate's Samantha Henig attempt to catch a squirrel in order to cook it à la Mike Huckabee style: fried in a popcorn popper.

I'd rather put Mike Huckabee in a popcorn popper.

My gosh, did I just see her cook squirrel on a popcorn cooker? Since, there was no closed caption available for me on this video; I cant argue about the ridiculous cooking method shown. Although as a squirrel eating arkanasan, I like them breaded and deep fried like chicken poppers. They are strangely delicious.

What a scream! But she did use the wrong kind of popcorn popper, however, The kind Huckabee no doubt used was an old gray metal pot with a lid. Still not a great way to do squirrel, though. Samantha is right about our Little Gray Fuzzy Friends being better in stew or fried like chicken.

I just bagged my first squirrel in years a few weeks ago, and I am heartily looking forward to braising it in a walnut sauce. (Seems appropriate, yes?) And no, I will not use a popcorn popper...

my childhood friend's brother used to catch squirrels in their backyard. they cooked em. sometimes i'd find frozen squirrel parts in the freezer.

This video is a vegetarian's nightmare....but also gave me lots of chuckles---thanks!

I LOVED that explainer.
