Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Southside Market Sausage

20071204southsidemarket.jpgWhen winter is near, I start thinking about sausage. About the best, juiciest, meatiest, just smoky enough sausage I know is the Bracewell family makes and serves at their phenomenal Texas barbecue joint the Southside Market. The Bracewells are a generously spirited bunch, so they've given us ten pound packages of their incomparable sausage to give away as part of the Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway. Win and you can have your very own Texas barbecue sausage holiday party. Doesn't that sound good?

To enter: Tell us what your favorite barbecue joint is.

You have until noon ET tomorrow (December 5) to enter. One winner will be chosen at random from among the commenters. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply. Contest winners are limited to residents of the continental U.S.

Phoebe's in Philly. But I still haven't taken that Southern BBQ roadtrip...

I cannot remember the name of the place, but between Houston and Austin, there is this roadside bbq place that has it's slogan as "We smoke fatties". they have some great bbq beef sandwiches, not to mention their jerky.

Ew Sigma- you better get down South because DBBQ is nasty.
I'm from the DFW area so I love Cousin's. You gotta have the brisket and beef ribs, and wash it down with an ice cold Shiner Bock.

Honey One, Chicago

Original Texas BBQ King, Los Angeles

Stamey's in Greensboro, NC

Rocklands in DC is the best I've had in the city.

If I am in Southern California it has to be Lucille's BBQ but out here in the Indiana I will have to admit that Famous Dave's is my top choice.

I haven't had much in way of real BBQ but I did enjoy City Grill's offerings in Bloomington, IN when they were still in business. Delectable brisket, hands-down. Hog House out on LI is quite good as well but the place is far too small. It really needs a location that's about thrice the size.

Favorite BBQ: Hill Country on W. 26th Street in Manhattan. The moist beef brisket makes me want to be a vegetarian for a year just so that my moment of relapse can be with their Brisket. I'd then go on a national anti-vegetarianism tour and build a massive following of devoted Hill Country Brisketeers. Mmmm BBQ.

East Coast - Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, NY
West Coast - Memphis Minnies in San Francisco, CA

Living in Central Pennsylvania, I don't have a lot of choices. The Smokey Bones chain is here - does that even count? There is a great little Cajun place in the local farmer's market, Jambalaya Jay's, and Jay makes BBQ ribs as a special once in a while. That will have to serve as my favorite until I can broaden my BBQ horizons.

I can't help it, I like Famous Dave's!

East Coast: Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, NY
West Coast: Memphis Minnies in San Francisco, CA

My backyard.

MN's favorite: Famous Dave's

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know of any BBQ joints where I live in North Idaho. If I had to choose I would have to say a BBQ at my own house is the best choice...until I'm able to go to a good BBQ joint.

Brad's BBQ is probably the best where I live (Yukon, OK). Venturing further out, County Line in OKC and Jake's Rib in Chickasha (also in Bricktown) are both excellent.

Just noticed leegweb mentioned Van's -- also very good.

Don't know yet. When I decide the place will have delicious biscuits.

Sadly we don't have much in the way of barbecue joints around here. The only one I've tried was not very impressive.

Depends on the type of barbeque!

For sliced beef, Jerry Neel's in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
For chopped pork, Bullock's in Durham, North Carolina or the Blues Hog 'cue wagon from in northeast Missouri when it vists St. Louis.
For chicken, 17th Street Bar & Grill in Fairview Heights, Illinois or Donahue's in Fenton, Missouri (the original owner has passed away, but his daughter gave me the recipe!).
For sausage, the house-made product at 17th Street Bar & Grill.
For ribs, Super Smokers in St. Louis or (when they are good) the Rendezvous in Memphis.
For barbecue spaghetti, the Interstate in Memphis.
And for burnt ends, Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City!
