Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Southside Market Sausage

20071204southsidemarket.jpgWhen winter is near, I start thinking about sausage. About the best, juiciest, meatiest, just smoky enough sausage I know is the Bracewell family makes and serves at their phenomenal Texas barbecue joint the Southside Market. The Bracewells are a generously spirited bunch, so they've given us ten pound packages of their incomparable sausage to give away as part of the Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway. Win and you can have your very own Texas barbecue sausage holiday party. Doesn't that sound good?

To enter: Tell us what your favorite barbecue joint is.

You have until noon ET tomorrow (December 19) to enter. One winner will be chosen at random from among the commenters. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply. Contest winners are limited to residents of the continental U.S.

Because it is the closest thing to Dreamland BBQ in Birmingham, AL, I am nominated Dixie Bones of Woodbridge, VA. Their ribs are tender and toothsome. Their pulled pork is simply sublime - the perfect mix of smoke and chew. And they do fabulous side dishes. The collard greens are cooked just right. The cole slaw is dreamy creamy. The cornbread is properly skillet-baked. And the mac and cheese is soul-food perfection. And I haven't even touched upon their home-baked pies. Dixie Bones is a combination of the best of Southern BBQ and meat-and-two-veg soul food joint. I just loves it.

Being up North, we don't have a ton of places to choose from (not including our own backyards), so I'd have to go with Famous Dave's in Cherry Hill, NJ. They are dependably good.
