One of the nicest things about that competition was getting to see the other blogs nominated. There's some really interesting stuff out there!
It's also a very nice plus in my mind that within the context of its winning, the First Prize really goes not only to the excellent and consistently posted (no small feat) writings and photos of Ed and Adam and Alaina and Robyn (and raphael! who gives the sauce its base to stand on so to speak) along with their family of blogs - but also to all the other fabulous bloggers here who are linked to the site through posts and links to their own blogs.
It's a great feeling - and I think Ed has managed to to do, with Serious Eats - the thing he wrote about in his essay on "what is important to you about Thanksgiving". He's managed to find or to create a common ground.

Wow, thanks for all the kind words about Serious Eats, and thanks to all of you who voted for us. Serious Eats has been a labor of love for everyone involved. For me personally, starting Serious Eats has been the greatest, most satisfying experience of my work life. Creating this place where food lovers can find common ground (thanks, Karen) is what Serious Eats is all about, and the community that has grown out of that common ground is what all of us who work at Serious Eats headquarters are most proud of.
