Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

peterluger.pngToday we're giving away a package of two prime, dry-aged ("longer than four weeks") porterhouse steaks, thanks to the generous folks at Peter Luger. These steaks are not small. Each weighs more than two pounds. The steaks come with two bottles of Peter Luger steak sauce and a bag of chocolate coins.

The steaks may not be small, but I am. But I still bet I can eat a whole one in one meal. My vote is Strip because that's what I usually order. People look at you strangely if you're a girl and you order a Porterhouse, then come the questions - are you really going to eat all that? I bet you won't be able to finish that. What, you? So small and ordering such a big steak? Yeah, just shut up and gimme the meat.

I actually like chuck because I love a good beef bourguignon made with one full bottle of wine.

Definitely the Porterhouse, served Pittsburgh style or Black and Blue and shared with good company.

My favorite cut of steak is a medium rare (more on the rare side) filet, with crumbled blue cheese on the side.

i don't have a favorite, i'm not picky when it comes to steak, i like it most any way it's served.

A Brazilian cut called Picana.

A big juicy ribeye, cooked no more than medium rare, with good char. I also love porterhouse but it's harder to find and more expensive. Mmmm!

Bone in Ribeye, coarse salt and pepper, seared on the hottest piece of cast iron i can get, delicious and amazing.


Of course I wouldn't complain about porterhouses or really any cut of steak ;)

Ribeye, with the bone so I can gnaw on it like a troglodyte. Nice and crusty on the outside, with a warm pink center, topped with some sauteed mushrooms and some good blue cheese... arghhh, my stomach is rumbling!!

I love grilled flank steak. If I can't have that, my second choice would probably be a good ol rib eye.

I do love a fillet, but really I'm ordering a ribeye if I'm ordering a steak.

T-bone has all the parts I love! A restaurant her in Portland (Toro Bravo) has a coppa steak that I am also enamored with but I'm not sure where he's exactly cutting that puppy off.

It just depends on the beef. Really good, aged, well-marbled prime? New York Strip, all the time. Questionable, or lower-grade/less marbled beef? Filet mignon. It's just more dependable.

Mmmm, steak! I went there for my fiftieth birthday and survived the delicious porterhouse rare. I did skip the bacon appetizer, however.

My father was worried, since none of us wanted dessert, that they wouldn't be able to sing to me. Our server was up to the challenge -- brought a bowl of whipped cream with candles in it.

I had a great flank steak once, properly marinated in a red wine/blue cheese marinade and done on a grill -- rare! Lovely eating with red wine.

It feels so....typical. But I cannot tell a lie: I adore filet.

When filet doesn't fit into my budget, I go for the lesser-known baseball steak.

I like a good filet, medium rare, but my husband prefers the bone-in ribeye. There have been a few times that I've preferred his steak over mine :)

I have to admit that I've always liked Roumanian-style strip steak -- although I am also partial to ribeye and a nce sirloin. Filet Mignon is OK, but never seems to be as flavorful (hmmm, nice beefy yummyness!)
