Photo of the Day: Crawly Spider Cakes

potd-spidercakes.jpg

Not Martha shows you how to make crawly spider cakes for Halloween using various kinds of Pocky, snack cakes, sugar eyes and chocolate sprinkles. Spiders will never again look as freakishly adorable or taste as sweet.

The multiple eyes are a great touch.

Yesterday I saw some "spider web" cotton candy at the store which is colored white and grey which can be stretched out to make webs. It would be great to hang these spiders from it (Charlotte isn't one of them, is she?) for little hands to grab. Add some candy bugs inbetween and everyone should be happy. Spiders aim to eat the bugs, kids aim to eat the spiders, and Halloween dreams of candy and scary stories aim to eat the kids' imagination.

And, of course, the candy manufacturer's profits aim to eat us all. :)
