Photo of the Day: Homer Cake

potd-homercake.jpg

Travis's Homer cake contains the three crucial Homer components: Duff beer, a sprinkled donut, and the pièce de résistance—a trickle of drool. I think Homer would approve of such craftsmanship...and then proceed to shovel the cake down his throat in five seconds.

love it!!!

I should've included a note that I didn't actually make that cake. It's one I saw at a glorified sugar festival here in Melbourne.

My attempt would look much worse. ;)

I love it, I wanna make me one of those!

WOW!!! Neat!!! That is the best cake ever!!

:-)

funny!

Good lord! What are the dimensions?

I think it was about 60-70cm tall from memory.
Definitely not as big as it looks!

I wonder what pans and/or techniques would be needed? I think a Wilton Bowling Pin Pan would be a good start for the body structure but the head would require more cake than the top of the bowling pin pan would provide. I'd love to know the media (cake, gum paste) used - and how long it took. Wish there was a way to track the actual baker down for these details - but in the meantime, Thanks Travis for posting!

I am sure Mr Simpson is saying " if my mother could see me now."
