My New Favorite Chef: The Pioneer Woman

pioneerwomancooks.jpg

Although I love food blogs, I tend to stay away from recipe blogs because the part of my brain responsible for cooking skills is about the size of an emaciated fruit fly. But when I came across The Pioneer Woman, I couldn't look away. I mean, I could've looked away, I just wouldn't have been happy about it. My middle finger locked onto my mouse's scroll wheel as vibrant step-by-step photos of recipes for butter-laden meats and sweets (and I mean really step-by-step, like dedicating three photos to chopping up sticks of butter) and humor-laced commentary whizzed by on my monitor. Thank you, oh Pioneer Woman, for without you I wouldn't have the urge to whip up a "testosterone beef fest" sandwich.

I just read through her site. Why have I never heard of this website before? I love it.

Looks like Paula Dean before she learned how to cook.. Not a fan or canned soup and kraft cheese with pasta.

PIONEER WOMAN is AMAZING!!!!
Thank you for giving her the heads up!
YUP she's into processed food but so what in her case.
She presents it in the funniest most real way.
I love her too :)

Did we read the same blog? Lasagne with cottage cheese, kraft grated cheese, jimmy dean breakfast sausage? HOLY COW! These are the same people who eat hamburger helper. What was the most amazing thing is she actually BOILED the lasagne noodles. Why cut all the rest of the corners yet BOIL the noodles? I do not begrudge anyone who wants to put together a pasta meal for their family. I smile at blogs where newb cooks take glee in mediocrity. Hey they have to start someplace.
Roboppy how about you get Pioneer cottage cheese woman to read THIS blog? Maybe we can convert her to epicurean. Miracles happen you know.

Looking around her site (and I think I've looked at all the recipes), not everything is processed to the max. Although I may not used Jimmy Dean sausage or Velveeta, I'm not going to count her out based on a few things I don't like. Her funny writing and excessive photography (and I do think there are some mouthwatering recipes in there) keep me reading. If you want to give her some cooking tips, that's fine, and if you're disgusted by her blog, well...you don't have to read it.

Yesssssss! Another awesome blog for me to peruse.

I love step by step pictures :) Whenever I try out a new recipe I try to do step by step pics on my blog too.

It looks like a great site for the beginner cook.

I adore this site and everything about it. She's hilarious. I'm so glad you've given her the mention she deserves! Her photography just incredible, as well.

PLEASE!!! She is so much fun! And she and her viewers' comments will stretch your view of the world. Even if you know the hip, the cutting edge, every spot on the floor at Fairway---let another play with your neurons.

Ree is amazing. Her recipes aren't for me but I love her style and humor. She's a great storyteller.

Ree is a hilarious woman and a pretty fantastic cook. She uses ingredients that we (people living in the middle of nowhere) can find and they taste delicious. Make the cinnamon rolls and give them out for presents, you will be hard pressed to come home with any for yourself. The pictures are helpful to those that aren't the best cooks/bakers and she keeps it real for a former city girl that is living in the country.
Keep up the excellent work Ree!!
