Education Op: The Ins and Outs of Food Blogging

20070619mattbites.jpgThose of you interested in starting a food blog of your own—or current bloggers who just want to learn more—might be interested in class taught by Matt Armendariz (mattbites.com; that's him at right).

Taking place July 15 (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) at the Whole Foods Bowery location in New York City, Armendariz's lecture and demo "will discuss what food blogging is and how it has changed the landscape of food writing and accessibility. He'll also discuss what to blog about, how to take better food photos, and the basics of food styling." (Sign up here.)

I'm particularly interested in Armendariz's tips on photography and food styling, since he's adept at creating beautiful shots. [via Matt Bites]

oh my god. those are the sexiest food shots i've ever seen!! wish he'd come to atlanta and do a seminar.

Maybe Matt should talk to Whole Foods about sending him around the country to talk!

@tart - I'd be right there with you - maybe we should ask??? The Whole Foods in Buckhead is just itching for it, I think. :)

All of that in ONE HOUR?! I'd love a class or series like that, but can't imagine it could cover enough to go beyond what several generous food bloggers have posted on their sites as advice for beginners.

Not to worry, Cary! I've got killer hand outs and real life examples and plan on cramming tons of great info in my humble little 60 minutes!

@mattbites: Looking forward to it! Happy to see Whole Foods approached you with this.

DUDE COME TO ATLANTA

We'll feed you!

Ah, to take pics like Matt.

How fortunate! I need a class from Matt, STAT.

It sounds great Matt: hope I can find something like it near me soon! Columbus Whole Foods in Ohio maybe? Check out www.RestaurantWidow.com : excellent regional blog, lots of "eat local", recipes, around town, and reviews, with a few cats thrown in for good measure. One of my favorites.

Is it really only one hour? The page with all the classes listed says 1:30 to 2:30, but the booking system shows it as 1:30PM to 3:30 PM.

Oops! The class is INDEED 2 hours. Whew!

Hooray! I'm registered, and looking forward to the class :) Especially the photo bits.

Wow Matt, it looks like you are a hit!

If anyone in the NYC are is sitting on the fence, let me say that not only does Matt have a boatload of helpful information to share with bloggers, but he is a genuinely nice and funny guy too! You can bet it will be an enjoyable two hours.

Woah! MattBites is hot! ;D

I'm in. =D Looking forward to meeting some fellow food bloggers. (I'm a newbie too, eager to learn!)
