My wife and I visited Pike Place Market in Seattle in July of last year. It was our final stop (before flying out of Seattle back to Maryland) on our fabulous "Northwest adventure." Our adventure took us from Seattle via the coast highway all the way to Northern California. We then returned to Seattle via the "Volcanoes" route.
Pike Place Market was great, especially the seafood markets. The PP Fish Company (where they throw the fish) was great fun. I got some really good photos there. Overall, an interesting experience.
Couple of problems: Parking is a real problem and VERY expensive (it cost us $9.00 for less than two hours). Also, pushy "panhandlers" are a bit frightening. While we were there, the police made a dramatic "drug bust" at the park adjoining the market.
I loved the fact that you could buy seafood there and have it delivered to your hotel, where the kitchen would prepare it to your instructions. Way COOL!
We loved the northwest coast and all the fabulous scenery. Glad we toured the Pike Place Market . . . it was ALMOST as good as our own historic Lexington Market in Baltimore ;>)
