Grow Your Own Shiitake Mushrooms
Buy a shiitake mushroom log, keep it in a cool, dark place, and you'll have your own crop of shiitake mushrooms in ten days. They say the log can produce a new crop every 8 to 12 weeks for a few years. That's a lot of tasty mushrooms! $29.95 at Wine Enthusiast.

i'm just going to say that we had one of these logs and it didn't work at all. we gave my parents one and they maybe grew one small mushroom. (and my parents have green thumbs)
it did serve as a nice water trough for my cats though.

Bummer! Sorry to hear, Tien, but thanks for the warning!

I bought these for my kids a couple of years ago for Christmas, and we put them in our basement to grow, and we got a couple of crops of great mushrooms from them (and fun for the kids). But when I was looking for the kits, I had no idea what would come up when you did a search for growing mushrooms! That was an education in itself!
