How to Make the Self-Starter from Raines Law Room, NYC[Photograph: Linda Xiao]
The Self-Starter from Raines Law Room in NYC is head bartender Meaghan Dorman's answer for the drinker who wants a martini, but nothing too strong.
Note: Dorman uses a small spray bottle to coat the glass with just the right amount of absinthe (two spritzes). If you don't have a spray bottle, just rinse the glass with a small amount of absinthe and dump out.
Ingredients
- 1/2 ounce Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot
- 1 ounce Cocchi Americano
- 1 1/2 ounces Plymouth gin
- Absinthe (see note above)
- Garnish: lemon twist
Directions
-
1.
Add Orchard Apricot, Cocchi Americano, and gin to mixing glass. Fill with ice and stir until well chilled, about 20 seconds.
-
2.
Rinse coupe glass with absinthe and dump out (or use 2 sprays of a spray bottle). Strain drink into absinthe-rinsed glass and garnish with lemon twist. Serve immediately.
