These recipes from our annual Serious Eats Cookie Swap are provided by Serious Eats staff, friends, and family. They have not been tested by our recipe team.
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg slightly beaten
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 4 tablespoons molasses
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mix together first 3 ingredients. Add sifted flour with cinnamon, ginger, salt and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Roll into walnut sized balls and then roll in sugar. Lightly forkpress the cookies 2 ways before baking them.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Do not over bake.
